Tiago Mendes’ latest dismal performance may have convinced Juventus to send him to Paris Saint-Germain in January.

The Portuguese midfielder was their biggest summer signing at £10m, but has been repeatedly disappointing in Serie A.

On Thursday evening newspapers described him as “a ghost” in their 2-1 Coppa Italia defeat at Empoli and some suggest it was his last chance to convince Coach Claudio Ranieri.

According to French paper ‘L’Equipe,’ Paris Saint-Germain have already contacted the Turin giants with an intriguing proposal.

PSG would like to take Tiago on loan for six months so that he can recover physically and psychologically.

Ligue 1 is familiar to him, as he had great success with Olympique Lyonnais, although PSG are currently struggling in the bottom half of the table.

Juventus are looking for midfield reinforcements in January, as Sergio Almiron has also disappointed since his summer switch from Empoli.

It is widely reported a deal is already in place for Aston Villa man Olof Mellberg to arrive on a free transfer at the end of the season, although they are pushing to anticipate his arrival by six months.

Other options include Liverpool’s Mohamed Sissoko and Sporting Lisbon star Miguel Veloso. In the longer term, Ranieri is more convinced than ever that his old Chelsea protégé Frank Lampard would be a success story in Serie A.

He is amazing. He can play different position but he is best at dm plus full of creativity. Unfortunately,he is really unlikely for us because he will go either to Real Madrid or Man United more likely Man United. Although Miguel at Juve would be a dream come true. He has real talent. Whoever gets him is lucky.

Hopefully there is a bit of truth to it :xmas:

He's quite a talent. Young, though. But these days, that's not incompatible with Juve when it comes to player development (thankfully). Strong as a DM but not a complete destroyer. However, he does add a lot of value in other parts of the pitch -- so he's a little more of a generalist than a pure specialist DM. Contributes well in attack for a DM. And, as mentioned above, probably way out of our economic reach given the money probably already chasing after him.
