I swear we don't need a LM
Shift to a 4-3-3 and we'll be decent . Coentrao on the right and Ceglie on the left. Both are more then decent going forward. IF he came I would play him as LB because he can attack real well. Marchisio can do some more covering.
I agree with you but considering DN's worship 4-4-2 he would be better as LW.

De Ceglie is certainly not good enough to be awarded the starting LB spot.
I think he is our first choice LB at the moment .. and he was looking really good under Del Neri imo. I just listed him cuz that is what we have currently as our best option. Also I dont think 28 is too old. He is mature and ready to be a leader in a team .. plus he can give us 4 or 5 good years. But the ideal player for our left side would be someone like Hazard

First off, De Ceglie is a decent squad player, his performances are way too erratic to be relied upon. I never said Bastos wasn't good, he's an excellent player but i was taking into account that Lyon don't operate to make losses on any of their transfers. Aulas is notoriously difficult to negotiate with & Lyon have made major profits from selling their best players. What make you think Bastos will go on the cheap?

For the money we'd spend on him, we could get Elia, who has the potential to be really effective for us. He has the speed, stamina, strength & great dribbling skills. Plus he's younger. I'm looking at this at a long term holistic view.

I was pretty sure that you would come with that argument. Amauri scored two goals against us too.
You already know ;) so what does that say? Giovinco = Bench = 2 Goals , Amauri = Starter = 2 Goals ....meaning it doesn't matter if they area bench player or not some players just fit other systems better then others. Elia is quality and he proves it every time he comes on for hamburger sv

Elia ... just like giovinco and so many others, what can we get from these players ?
Think with me.

First there is the obstackle, they dont track back, they dont defend, they dont win duels, they dont win balls. They generally are very bad at putting efficient pressure on players.
So, you consider them "attacking"

This means that other players of the team need to make up for the lack of balance they provide, this is done so that the "attacking player" can do his thing, and make the diffrence.

but here is the catch, how efficient are they really ? how much end product do they offer ?
Elia, just like giovinco, is a player who has a few nice tricks and dribbels up his sleeves, but without an endproduct, and very unefficient.

Del Piero didnt allways play SS, back in the mid/end 90ties, he was playing out in the midfield. yet as it was generally known, alex didnt quite track back.
He offered dribbeling and technique, but also genious passing and tons of goals and assists.

he had a terrific endproduct, and was very efficient. its absolutely no problem in sacrificing some other players who had to make up for his lack of defensive work.

later on, because his terrific goalscoring record, and because the team had less talent, he was pushed to the SS position were we all knew him for many wonderfull years, yet he would never be the original italian prodigy of the 90ties that was the best player of the world.

that aside, players like elia have no endproduct, and arent efficient. this is why they are on the bench.
coaches use them when they need an overload of offensive talent, likely when the team is behind.

sorry, but thats how it is.

If a player isn't going to work defensively, he better be really fucking good going forward.

How much did lyon pay for him? to be fair I never said he would be cheap. Quality players rarely come cheap. I would probably rather have him then Elia. But I would also rather have Gourcuff or Hazard rather then Bastos. If the fee for Gourcuff or Hazard was close to Bastos' fee then I would much rather we get one of those 2. We need to start bringing in top quality players though.. thats for sure.

As for DC if the club does not get a LB he is going to be the LB because I dont think Chiellini would want to remain as the LB in the long run .. even if he is a success there.

I'm arguing in vain with you guys. Giovinco is real good going forward? elia didn't create a goal yesterday with a backheel? nani never tracks back and rarely had end product till recently. It's w.e we can keep buying pepe style wingers who offer nothing going forward

Most people agree Giovinco is good but would he come back?.. I would like it if he did but Gio alone wont save Juve. We need to bring in other top level players.
