Lyon representative and former manager Bernard Lacombe has told Tuttomercato that the French club have yet to hear from Juventus concerning rumours that the Old Lady are lining up a bid for Brazilian Michel Bastos.
"I read about the offer of €22m on the part of the Bianconeri, but we did not reach anything like that. Maybe at coaching staff level something has happened, but between the two clubs, at least at the moment, there is absolutely nothing," Lacombe told the Italian press.
The former player and boss also ruled out any big players being involved in a swap deal, stating the wages players earn at Juventus are not available at Lyon.
"Momo Sissoko and Vicenzo Iaquinta? I do not see how we can sign players with so high a salary, these are those of Juventus, not our club."
Iaquinta is maybe not the best striker but certainly a pinch hitter when fit. And Sissoko could also be very usefull next season. I would never do that and Juve must be crazy if that goes true.
But we'd spend a lot of money on a player who doesn't really fix the main issue, which is defense. There don't seem to be many options, but Bastos is simply too expensive for what he would offer at LB.
I know, and I have to say it worries me a bit, but spending 22-25m on Bastos doesn't seem a very sensible thing to do either way, it's simply far too much. We really have to stop leaking goals, even though his runs forward would be great.
