He's been playing on the right and left hand side of a 5 man midfield in Lyon the past couple of years. So bringing him in does not necessarily mean you guys are going for a 4-4-2.
With all the talk of different SS being linked to Juve, I don't see them playing 4-3-3/4-5-1 with Bastos and Krasic as the wingers.

But then again signing Pirlo should speak against it.
That's the whole problem.

Having Pirlo means you shouldn't play 4-4-2, but pretty much every other move is suggesting 4-4-2 is the most likely formation.

If it wasn't for Pirlo being in the team, I'd have no issue with playing 4-4-2.

Ever since Del Neri....sadly no
Since Delneri?

Did Capello ever not play 4-4-2?

Deschamps was only flexible when injuries forced him to be.

Ranieri played 4-3-3 a few times, but was steadily 4-4-2 the rest of the time.

Ferrara was just about the only one who changed things about a bit, but that was probably due to how poorly the squad had been put together for the planned 4-3-1-2 system.

That's stupid. I'll admit I don't know the strengths and weaknesses of different formations or how they work in practice, but to my extremely limited knowledge it at least makes sense to have more than one working formation so there wouldn't be this problem. :boh:
