It's different to play as a left back for Brazil, and playing it in the European style.
Sure it his, but he couldn't play as a typical Brazillian fullback, he had thougher direct oppononts like Robben. I saw him for three matches at the WC in that position and frankly I think he did a good job.

He destroyed Sanchez for a full 90 min. in that match against Chile. Sanchez barely got hold of the ball.

Yeah he'd be coming as a Winger I think that's pretty certain. I love how people make him out to be a poor player though, really odd. He has everything and would compliment Krasic so much.
I don't make him out to be a poor player, but I think it isn't wise to nail him down immediately in February, instead of other options. I don't really believe the news though, seems way too premature for a big signing.

As for "has everything", sure, but not the special thing which makes certain players stand out. And he'll be turning 28 when next season begins. If he's signed, then I'd hope that Juventus is looking at the long term.

He was alright and did enough, I didn't think he was particularly good. Like the entire Brazilian squad. Sánchez got plenty of the ball from what I remember, but he was more limited at that time, hadn't developed as much as currently.

By the way, just because Deschamps uses a 4-3-3 currently doesn't mean he'll continue that here, if he joined.

They are basically signing him cuz he's one of those wingers that can track back in a 4-4-2. I just wish we could drop the 4-4-2, sign a creative and offensive winger and go for a 4-3-3 instead.

Yes, but somehow I can't believe Lyon selling him for 15M. That would mean pretty good business on our side and keep in mind that Lyon are a side, which on the area of transfers don't get fucked. So in other words, the price is bullshit or there is something wrong with Bastos.
Next summer Bastos will turn 29 and will have only 1 more year of his contract. This summer will probably be the last chance to get anything over 10 million and from the little I saw of him as well from what I read in forums, he's far from being an irreplaceable figure in Lyon.

What if the new coach does not play 4-4-2 then you're going to look very silly.

Every player is replaceable.

I watch Lyon, and he isnt poor, but he is mainly just decent, good left foot, some speed/explosivity, but more of role player then a markee player. He impressed me more at Lille, at Lyon, not done much of anything. Its not saying he is poor to say we can get better, we can, especially since he wont be cheap, AND most importantly, he will take up our non EU spot. We only have one, and it HAS to be used for a player who is really worth it IMO.

Unless Lyon have crisis, I don’t see them selling him for 15M.

They bought him for 18M and I don’t think he has declined as a footballer since.

Surgery.. that sucks. Maybe we can get a discount? As for people being against signing him cuz he will be 28 when he to Juve I think it is ok. He will have 4 or 5 good years and having a quality left winger is something we need big time. Sure he is not first choice for alot of us but he is a good player. Better then Martinez and Pepe combined. I would prefer to sign drenthe to Bastos as I think Drenthe is better, more explosive and would be about half the price. Juve need to be smart now with transfers.
