DEl Piero might have played his last game for Italy - Lippi might be pressured into making sweeping changes, and while Totti is likely to be assured of his place, and Cassano probably as well, I don't think Vieri and Del Piero will find it easy to get into the team. Not any more.

I think Lippi will still get Vieri/DP involved in the beginning of WC qualifications and friendlies, but he will then turn to Gilardino, Miccoli and Cassano. IMO he will build his team on the latter three.
