Miccoli confirms Italian return
Fabrizio Miccoli has noted that he is ready to leave Benfica for an Italian return – even if he’s unsure of whether he will be playing for Juventus or Napoli.
The 27-year-old has spent the last two years on loan in Portugal from Juve, but will be back in Serie A action next term.
“They treated me like a king in Lisbon, but now I am ready to return to Italy,” Miccoli said to Radio Kiss Kiss.
“I spent two wonderful years at Benfica and we almost won the title, giving me the opportunity of playing for one of the best clubs in the world.
“But I still have three years left on my contract with Juventus and I am at Claudio Ranieri’s disposal.
“However, if I am told that I am not included in their plans then I am ready to look for an alternative solution.”
Ranieri has recently claimed that he’d like to have the 'Romario del Salento’ at his disposal next season, but Napoli have been strongly linked with the Old Lady’s 2003 signing.
“Playing at Napoli next to Christian Bucchi and Emanuele Calaiò would be great, but we will wait and see what happens,” he added.
“I would love to become a new idol for the Partenopei supporters. I have always been a fan of Diego Maradona and I envy those who saw him in action when he was at his best.”
The Italian international moved to Portugal in 2005 after Fiorentina opted not to keep him despite the fact that he scored 12 goals in Serie A during his one-season loan there.
