Metal Gear Solid release date confirmed

Metal Gear Solid 4 Confirmed To Hit PS3 June 12th

Konami has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 4 will release as an exclusive game on the PS3 in the U.S. and Europe on June 12, 2008.

Konami stated that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is going to be like a summer blockbuster in a sense.

The game has been delayed quite a few times over the past year or so, but with Grand Theft Auto IV coming out at the end of April, and then Metal Gear Solid 4 in June, it seems that PS3 owners are going to have plenty to play!

Konami also announced that all who pre-order MGS 4 will have guaranteed access to the online beta test for the game in April.


Don't know about you guys but I am really looking forward to this, the game looks amazing! Been a MGS fan since the first mgs on the ps1 and have been hooked since, and with this one set to be an epic, I can't wait!

Don't know about you guys but I am really looking forward to this, the game looks amazing! Been a MGS fan since the first mgs on the ps1 and have been hooked since, and with this one set to be an epic, I can't wait!

Snake IS old unofortunately, from the begining of the game he only has 6 months to live, I don't have a PS3 but I think I may get one for when this comes out!

MGS is my second beloved series, MGS will surely be one of the best games ever made and probably the final blow to Xbloding in 360 pieces box,
first the HD battle won by BlueRay, then PS3 finally became profitable and cheaper and by then the really exclusive and not portable to PCs games will appear.
I m sorry for xbox owners, esp for the non American ones.
I havent got a next gen console, ill wait up for exclusive marvels, like Gran Turismo 5, MGS 4, Resi Evil 5(i know its not exclusive but i wont miss it), God of war 3 etc to gather up and when the cheapest, slimmer and cracked version of the blue ray players, called PS3 appear, i ll make my move!

I do think you are exaggerating though. MGS won't be the final blow to the xbox. MGS 4 would be what the 3rd/4th must have title on the PS3, compared to the dozen or so on the xbox? It's the opposite imo, Sony has alot of catching up to do. To both Microsoft and Nintendo. It's not going to be untill 2009 or 2019 till the PS3 outshines the xbox 360 (even then it is possible it won't happen)

And MGS 4 will get ported to the xbox 360. It is inevitable and would be the logical choice financially.

-Profit = guaranteed future+support
-won the HD battle (all the players will choose a blue ray player instead of a dead format)
-Sony now has full access to all multi platform games developers and they have access to all the tech details they hadnt so far.
Sony entered the next gen war with a handicap, starting a year later, but they ensured this time they would have superior hardware, just like the xbox had over psone. Some of the gaming devs had no time to prepare their, multi-platform games for every console and Sony had to pay that price for being late and even when they did, some of the games werent optimized. Despite having slightly better hardware Sony ended up of having slightly worse editions of the same game, or having them not at all.
But now Sony is a part of the market, the devs have all the time necessary to create proper ports for the PS3 and furthermore to optimize them in a way that might stress PS3's hardware superiority. From now Sony turned their drawbacks to their advantage! And this year, mark my words, they will turn tables:vinny:

PS3 is now starting to be the most reasonable choice to invest, the only thing that sony lacks atm is great exclusive titles, MGS 4 is a part of great exclusive titles the PS3 will have this year, 1 year from now you will see the impact this will have to the market.
Exclusive games is a great console weapon, microsoft's choice for a quick cash, creating ports of the halo and Gears of War series might doom her.
But every console player knows that if you ever wonna enjoy God of War or MGS, you ve got to own a Sony console.

As long as the xbox360 continues to sell more than the PS3, the developers will create a multiplatform game with the xbox360 in mind first as most of their sales will come from that.

I frankly don't see how they will turn tables yet. MGS4 will sell alot, but it's the title to make sony sell 7 million more consoles. And I still think that it will get ported to the xbox 360 for purely financial reasons. no MGS4 will not decide the title race, neither will god of war 3. Those games are best sellers but they are not crazy best sellers. the games that win you a console war are as such: Final Fantasy, Madden, GTA, and if a Blizzard game comes out. So far none of those are exclusive to any console so the war is not won yet.

Snake is a badass. He defeated his father, his brother, a mind reader, a super strong soldier, a gunslinger, a giant tank, a master sniper, a cyborg ninja and a freaking fighter chopper.

Hard to disagree with arguements like that.. Seriously, IMO if it's a stealth, spy, action game than I want it to be as realistic as it can get. I don't want cyber ninjas, mind readers, genetic tanks or what not, those things are a place for a first person shooter like Quake.

No competition, really.

SC is the best copycat, unlike Syphon Filter, but i m not convinced from the turn of the series, "conviction"...
However the depth of MGS's scenario and gameplay cannot be touched by Splinter Cell or any other stealth title.
I agree that, Sam Fisher is much more realistic than any clone of Snake though !
