Lol.

Not trying to be rude, but by August 2005 Messi was widely known as the hottest prospect in the world.
Thats half the amusement. I'm 100% sure everyone posting in that twitter thread were too young to seen 18 year old Messi.

16 year old Messi had a friendly game vs Juve where he bossed the hell out of Juve 11 filled with best players in the world in their positions. So the fact Messi is a insanely freaky out of this world talent was evident from first minute you see him play.

That he would become freakishly consistent record goal and assist machine for 2 decades after is another matter. But him being special enough to become best in the world eventually was fairly safe bet from the get go.

One of his first starts with Barca he dribbled the entire Getafe team for solo goal lol

Yeah, you're right.

I remember both instances.

There was also the U20 World Cup in 2005. Usually it's not that big of an event. At least not in Europe. But it was huge in 2005 and honestly it was all hype around Messi. On Dutch TV they had scouts coming on and explaining everything about him. They weren't saying he might be great. No, they all said he would be among the best ever. And then you saw him play and you knew. It was like the Bolt of football really.

Yeah, still nice shout outs though. It helped that we got to see him first hand at the Gamper match and this forum is English language.

Also shows the longevity of Tuz and its archive, whereas many other similar forums are long gone.
