Empoli hitman Francesco Tavano has officially completed his move to Spanish giants Valencia, announced the club.

Tavano hit the headlines this season with 19 Serie A goals, making a large contribution to their safety from relegation.

He had been linked with Juventus, Fiorentina, Milan and Inter – his favoured option, being a self-avowed life-long Nerazzurri supporter.

However, the Italian sides chose different avenues and so he has been sold to La Liga contenders Valencia.

The 27-year-old has been compared to Enrico Chiesa for his shooting style and played for Pisa and Rondinella before joining Empoli in 2001-02.

Valencia director of sport Amedeo Carboni, a former Roma star, personally guided the move to a successful conclusion. No financial details about the deal have been confirmed.

The Spanish side hasn't had too much luck with Italian players recently. Stefano Fiore, Bernardo Corradi and Marco Di Vaio all failed to settle in and sought loan moves back to the peninsula.

tavano will be back in italy this time next season - watch this space.

how can valencia who play 1 upfront - david villa need another striker? with morientes and mista alredi on their books.

not really tavano played amazing for empoli last season, almost 20 goals with empoli, imagine what he can do with people behind him.

tavano cud well easily be a 1 hit wonder, and players like him who have a great first season without establishing themselves as a consistant player for more than 1 season is a huge risk.

hey ibrah was a huge risk and a one hit wonder.......to be a good team you have to take chances and what if tavano pays off? i think if u can score almost 20 goals for empoli you have some skill

little ironic that they have been in europe in the past and have done well
I think it would have been for the best that I left you banned.

Do you know the difference between giants and having done well?

hey just remember who started this little disagreement of ours, ok fair enuff i made the mistake of opening a new thread about a non juve related transfer but there was no need for u to come up with ur sly comment, as part of ur job as mod, all u had to simply do was point out my mistake and merge it into an appropriate thread without all the clever talk.

glad we got that sorted
