La Stampa: Juventus want to find cover for Chiellini and the first person that appears is Olof Mellberg, who's said to already be set to join in June. To bring anyone else in right now will only cause problems in the summer because there is already an idea of what the team is going to be like next season.

500,000 to 1 million euro's has been mentioned as a price tag to get Aston Villa to let Mellberg go ahead of time. Juventus tried doing the same thing regarding Grygera last year but Ajax didn't accept the bid.

Otherwise the thought is to loan a player, but it is difficult to find anyone of adequate quality in January. To bring back Felice Piccolo from Empoli is an alternative.

Juventus.com: Ruben Olivera returns to his country Uruguay. The midfielder has gotten very litle playing time (1 sub) in Juventus and is loaned out to Penarol for the remainder of the season.

Corriere della Sera: Ronaldo's success against Napoli could mean a contract extension with Milan, which paves the way to Amauri for Juve.

    Il Messaggero
: Juventus offer Boumsong to Lazio for an option on Stefano Mauri in June.

Corriere dello Sport: Rio Mavuba, who has been pursued for a lengthy period in the past, is also of interest.

Tuttosport: Other than Mellberg, Juve are keeping an eye on Andrea Barzagli, Dario Simic, and Michele Canini. Chiellini's injury could mean investments as soon as January.

A player exchange with Real Madrid is being discussed in Spain. Juve loan Fernando Gago and Real loan Tiago.

    From the 17th:

Tuttomercato: With the arrival of Alessandro Budel to Empoli there's a possibility that Juventus youth product Marchisio could return to Turin. They both play the same position and this could mean that Marchisio could be surplus. He's always welcome in Juventus.

Gazzetta dello Sport: Aston Villa have said no to Juventus' half a million euro offer for Mellberg. Secco continues to negotiate with Villa due to the Juve's problems in the defense. He's also looking for free agents who can do a decent job but no names have been mentioned.

Thiago Alcantara, who's the son of ex Brazilian international Mazinho, has not gotten an new contract from Barcelona and is considering a move to Juventus.

O Jogo: Tottenham are prepared to pay the 13 million Juventus payed to Lyon for Tiago. This would make it possible for Juventus to buy Sissoko, worth 15 million.

La Stampa: Nothing is near a done deal but Mellberg and Sissoko are somewhat closer to Juventus. The price on Mellberg can not rise above 1 million euro's as he's free in the summer.

For Sissoko it's more complicated. The contract worth 2.5 million over four years is as good as done. The negotiations over the price is what's remaining. Juve want to loan with an option to buy, Liverpool want to sell. The price is set at 15 million, but Juve are hoping to lower that down to 10 towards the end of the month. It all depends on how much they receive for Tiago (from Tottenham).

During Thursdays mercato meeting it was decided that Diego is the main target in the summer. A decision has been made to put aside 20 million for a possible deal. Werder Bremen value the Brazilian at 30. Diego is one most sought after players in Europe and will be far from easy to get.

Lubos Kalouda's agent, Pavel Zika, says that they are in Italy "to negotiate with a top club". Juve are believed to be paying 3 million euro's for the attacking midfielder who was part of the team that won silver in the U20 World Cup in Canada.

Marca: Atletico Madrid are on the hunt for Tiago. The loss to Real in the derby have forced them to being to find a replacement for Maniche. They're also chasing Sissoko, who is however on his way to Juventus.

Atletico want to loan Tiago, which complicates [the matter] as Juve would rather sell him and get the money.

Gazzetta dello Sport: Almiron is in Monaco for a medical. If the Argentinian passes the test will he join AS Monaco on loan; who have the option to buy the player at the end of the season for €5.5.

L'Equipe: Boumsong is in an agreement with Lyon. The club now needs to reach an agreement with Juventus. The offer is a loan+option to buy. Meanwhile Juventus are interested in the League-1 champions' RB Reveillere.
