Conte has asked for the right pieces. Del Neri is testament to the fact that Marrotta cannot function independently.
I think marotta brought del neri what he wanted and is bringing conte what he wants, just because del neri wanted shit and produced shit that doesnt automatically extend to marotta. Also there arent many options out there, and you have no grounds on not bringing him back as the team is doing and gelling well

Seriously guys...Marotta....Yes OR No?

Great: Pirlo, Caceres, Licht, Barzagli, Matri, Vucinic, Quag, Vidal, Appelt, keeping Marrone, and maybe not Radja

Good: Pazienza:)D), Esti, Elia, Giach (dept players obviously)

Bad: Sorensen leaving

Keep in mind guys, these are my opinions and by no means shared by everyone on the forum. :D

I forgive him for Martinez and that 12m blunder and a few others, primarily my biggest gripe with Marotta now is not getting rid of our deadweight quickly enough, but my gun is pointed at Secco for that.

It would be great if we signed a proper LB this mercato, but we probably won't. Mark?

Anyway, assuming Cáceres has really improved ( I share Buck's concerns more than joy of having him back, as I haven't watched him since his Juve days ) and this Nainggolan kid is as good or potentially as good as people say, we've done pretty well this winter mercato.

@AndreaChristiano: I cant blame Del Neri for wanting shit because he was shit. Marrotta appointed him in the first place. And Del Neri didn't want Diego or Trez sold, yet they were. Del Neri didn't want Jorge Martinez either. But thats something we already know. As for the alternatives, well to begin with there were better alternatives out there like Corvino and Sabatini, but thankfully Conte's appointment VIA Agnelli has shown that Marrotta will have to up his game a bit. And since hes been given two years I'd like Conte to have the last word end of this season when we take stock of things.

Exactly, Marotta has shared the responsibility with the Coach. Conte has requested players and Marotta has done fucking well in all honesty going to get these players. He hasn't broke the bank or spent recklessly except on martinez and perhaps elia...nothing close to Melo or Diego of the Secco era.

I think the partnership with Marotta and conte has been fantastic to this point.

Elia at this point was wasting cash.

And you forgot the awful one - Borriello. Appelt is not great, he didn't even play.

It's hard to say if Conte gets the last word or not, I am sure he would love C.Ronaldo but the club just can't afford it. So both have to come to some kind of agreement with signing the right players that in our our budget at the moment. Marotta from this summer on has been fantastic, lagging in only selling the fringe players.

Conte I am positive has had a say in this, you can tell by the way the players fit perfectly into his tactics and heart of play.

The current relationship between coach and ds is good, unless something horrible happens in the next few months then he'll be stayinh.
Some say they don't see eye to eye. Didn't somebody earlier post that Conte and Marrotta had disagreements over a few things at the start of our summer mercato? If true, I wouldn't be surprised. Conte's conditioned by winning, Marrotta is conditioned by surviving at a mid table club.

I didn't forget Borriello...he was intentionally omitted by accident. :shifty:

Appelt could be one for the future, and you know I love my youth players...I think this boy can develope, just as Marrone is.

Elia was a waste of 9m...but you can't deny that if we absolutely had to use him he would produce, that's why he is there for quality.
