I just hope that Conte won't try to act as a scout and a coach who tries to create a great Juve with players coming from small Italian teams. He mentioned something about it and I fear that he might try to take that route. We already have good players, we only need an icing on the cake (or two-three icings :D).

I saw the same reaction for Giaccherini, now he's turning out to be a very neat player for us.

Average rating of 6.30 with Gazzetta is that good?

This is exactly what I was going to write. After the Bologna match in Coppa, he said this about Giaccherini:

"He’s the kind of player who knew how to make the best of himself with smaller teams, and now he deserves to be at Juventus, as he’s shown this evening."

Juventus land in New York

May 21, 2010

After about a one hour delay with regards to the scheduled time of arrival, the team landed in New York at around 18:45hrs CET. This was the start of the tour which will see the bianconeri playing two friendly matches, the first of which at the Red Bull Arena: this match will be transmitted exclusively on Juventus Channel at 22:00hrs on Sunday night (three hours after the actual kick-off). As from today, the team which landed in New yOrk, will have their first training session in America in view of the match against the NY Red Bulls.

Here are the players available for Alberto Zaccheroni:Manninger, De Ceglie, Grosso, Grygera, Zebina, Candreva, Salihamidzic, Diego, Amauri, Del Piero, Paolucci, Trezeguet, Yago, Primavera players Alcibiade, Belcastro, Marrone and Esposito and the five borrowed players Bardi, Bernardini, Brandao, Ekdal and Padoin.

interesting...

Sky journalist said Padoin signed on this table with Marotta and Paratici 15 min ago.
I'm not crazy about the table or the general atmosphere tbh.

I hope not, we really need to step up to WC players in the upcoming years. Conte reminds me of Wenger, actually.

He was probably just trying to say good things towards the kid.

i don't think that , when conte came first they say he had a list of big names but we couldn't get them , also one of the reasons of the rumour about his fight with marotta

and i add , he has said numerous times he likes walcott just to make an example , he likes big players and when the time will come we will get them

Replace the mediocre with excellent players and you have it.

:D

And we've seen the same with many others.
It's fine to get 2-3 such players and see where it takes you. I said that I hope it won't be our main tactic. Conte was talking how many Juve players from the mid-90's came from small Italian teams and became great in Juve. That is true but we also added some superstars to those teams (Baggio, Vialli, Zidane etc). Guys like Di Livio, Conte, Torriceli and Tacchi were indeed good and important, but Baggio, Vialli and Zidane were the stars and the best players who led the team. We might find a Conte in Lecce or Atalanta, but if those teams had a Baggio or a Zidane, that player would have already caught the eye of the scouts. We won't simply make a prince out of some frog we buy from the minnows.
