Yes Marotta could have done better but lets put things into perspective here. Additions of Lichsteiner, Vidal, Pirlo, Vucinic and Elia are not exactly bad transfers. We haven't spent that much money to be fair. The really BIG players are hard to get - and its not just about money....they are increasingly less attracted to Serie A number 1, and number 2, less attracted to a Serie A team not playing in Europe.

I have a sense that if the market stopped at this second....we will have quite a lot to spend in January.

But agree, he should have sorted out center back right at the beginning. In my opinion that is the side's biggest problem by FAR....scoring goals was not really the problem. The defense gave me zero confidence when watching them last season. Lichsteiner is the only big advance in defense at the moment.

Bastos, Alex and Lugano were all more than willing to come. It negates purchases like Vidal and Pirlo because the weak areas of the team remain weak. I don't even want to get into what was promised to us this season, because ill blow my fuse. But this guy is getting away with murder. From Aguero to Rossi, to Vargas to Bastos, to Alex to Bocchetti. Seriously. This shit has got to stop. Now. If we are giving him the benefit of the doubt at Conte has wanted these players, then I'm sorry, is his job to get the best possible players in that position, negotiate big salaries if need be and its our job to stop buying this bs and accepting everything that's being done to this club.

I don't really think he blew a whole lot of cash on any particular players this mercato but what were the figures optimists on here were posting about our sales? I remember they were very high. The fact of the matter is that the ramifications of Marotta's incompetence selling players have leaked into our purchases. Even by marginally increasing the prices of players like Melo and Giovinco (which would have been easy) we could have had the extra few millions to finalise deals for much better players.
