    Inzaghi set for Euro 2004
Breaking News, Tuesday May 04 2004
Filippo Inzaghi is confident of playing at Euro 2004.

The Italy international recently underwent ankle surgery and believes the lay-off could be a blessing in disguise ahead of the tournament.

"I could arrive at the European Championships a little fresher than everybody else," said the AC Milan striker.

"But before then the most important thing is to demonstrate to boss Giovanni Trapattoni that I am fit enough to play.

"Trap called me on the day of my operation which underlines he is interested in my physical condition. I just need to prove my fitness by the end of this month."

The former Juventus star has been plagued by injury this season after impressing during qualification, scoring vital goals against Wales and Serbia.

Italy coach Trapattoni is hoping to have Inzaghi fit after he ruling out the possibility of taking Parma youngster Alberto Gilardino.

Juventus' Marco Di Vaio is tipped to be Inzaghi's replacement should the Azzurri ace fail to recover in time.

No Cassano most go to Portugal. But what irritates me is that he probably gonna take Corradi and Delvecchio instead of Gilardino!
I hope he doesn't. Delvecchio has been very weak this year. Pippo with all his injuries shouldn't go either IMO.

Damn... the squad starts to took like something I don't want to see.

Inzaghi used to be my favourite Juve player. I hope he has a good tournament if he goes, though of course I'd prefer Gila

I love Pippo too, but it would be insane to take him ... he just had a surgery and will probably spend God knows how many time recovering thus won't be ready for Euro.

Although the 4-2-3-1 is the system that Trap has gone with throughout the Euro qualis, he has played 4-3-1-2 in the last two friendly games and I think that's the tactic he'll be using in Portugal.

    GK - Buffon, Toldo, Peruzzi
RB/LB - Panucci, Oddo, Zambrotta, Birindelli
CB - Cannavaro, Nesta, Ferrari, Adani/Materazzi
DM/CM - Pirlo, Perrotta, Zanetti, Gattuso
    RM/LM - Camoranesi, Fiore
AM/FC - Baggio, Totti, Del Piero, Cassano
    SC - Vieri, Gilardino

    starting line-up:

Buffon (Toldo) - Panucci (Oddo), Nesta (Ferrari), Cannavaro (Materazzi), Zambrotta (Birindelli) - Camoranesi (Gattuso), Pirlo (Perrotta), Fiore (Zanetti) - Totti (Baggio) - Del Piero (Cassano), Vieri (Gilardino)

    good one
    but not materazzi

I do not think Pippo is the kind of player who needs to be 100% fit to score unlike Dp who for me is a bigger worry for the Azzurri

If Pippo is fit then I would definitely take him and would not worry at all if he would let me down as he wouldn't

    Buffon

    Oddo

    Nesta

    Cannavaro

    Zambrotta

    Gatusso/Perrotta

    Pirlo

    Fiore

    Totti

    Dp/Cassano

    Vieri/inzaghi

    Subs
    Toldo/Pellizoli

    Ferrari

    Zaccardo

    Bonera

    Natali

    Zanetti
    Nervo
    Camoranesi

    Miccolli
    Di Natalie
    Corradi
    Gilardino

    The most likely....i hope ...

    GK:Buffon,Toldo,Perruzi/Pellizoli

    DF:Oddo,Panucci,Zambro,Favalli,Nesta,Canna,Ferrari,Materazzi.

    MD:Fiore,Camo,Pirlo,Zanetti,Gattuso,Perrota,Del piero,Nervo.

    FD:Vieri,Cassano,Di Vaio,Totti.

Those are 23 players.if there will be 22 to choose, then its either DV/Cassano.one of them.

And yeah,DP plays on the left mid,in Traps team.that's the only way for Del piero,Totti andVieri to play together.

    That's the best selection IMO.

So it will look like that:

    ----------------------------Buffon-------------------------------------

    --------Oddo----------Nesta--------Canna------------Zambro----

    ----------------------Pirlo/Perrota---------Gattuso--------------------------

    -----------Fiore-------------Totti----------------Dp---------------

    ----------------------------Vieri---------------------------------------

Imo this one will perform well.

As long as Trap continues to incorporate Totti, Del Piero, and Vieri in the same line-up, and plays Fiore and Pirlo I'll be very happy. I'm still praying for Trap to take Gila, but unfortunately that's not gonna happen

    Dear Trap,

After seeing the 4 magnificent goals that he scored today, allow me to warmly recommend you to reconsider and to take this Gilardino kid to Portugal, or else I will feel obliged to HUNT YOU DOWN AND SPANK YOUR 65 YEAR OLD BEHIND until it turns as red as Luciano Gaucci's face after Perugia are refused a penalty.

    Sincerely

    Kaiser Franco
