Italy Coach Roberto Donadoni has been handed a blow with the news that Mauro Camoranesi is doubtful for the do-or-die Euro 2008 qualifier with Scotland after picking up an ankle injury.
Camoranesi Doubtful For Scotland
Camoranesi had only just returned from a long spell on the sidelines and looked to be working his way back to fitness after scoring the equaliser in Juventus’ 1-1 draw with Inter last Sunday.
However the 31-year-old has now picked up an injury to his right ankle and will definitely miss the Bianconeri’s trip to Parma on Sunday.
More importantly perhaps for Calcio fans, the winger is now rated as doubtful for Italy’s crucial Euro 2008 qualifier in Scotland a week tomorrow.
Roberto Donadoni had admitted earlier in the week that he was planning to use Camoranesi during the game at Hampden Park:
“We will have to see about Mauro Camoranesi. He might just play for a half if he isn’t fully fit and he doesn’t have a whole game in his legs.”
Donadoni will now be keeping his fingers crossed that Gianluca Zambrotta can recover from the injury that forced him out of Barcelona’s 2-0 Champions League win over Rangers on Wednesday night.
