Guy had pneumonia and every single player hated his repulsive personality and still won the Scudetto with a Pjanic, Matuidi, Bentancur, Ramsey, Rabiot midfield.

The downfall started somewhere else. We still had prestige and standing when we fired him. We could have went another direction from there.
Sarri was fired and the club got rid of the entire midfield- Pjanic, Matuidi and Khedira. I am assuming on his feedback, the ‘untrainable’ players.

You mean the last time we had a atleast functional midfield?

Well it was functional, yes. The question is as to why or how. We won games with Bentancur playing regista :howler:
Pjanic could control games and Matuidi was still able to outrun most mids. 2 key pieces we lost/didnt replace after that season. The 3rd piece was a suplementary one, usually Bentancur or Rabiot. Ramsey was still playable as well. Sarri didnt want Can or Khedira anymore so they were marginalized/let go

Why blame Sarri?
Literally the last coach that won scudetto and he did it in COVID season.
Even Pirlo still won trophies if you think the rot started with Sarri.
Don't shift the blame from Allegri, cause he's the only one with zero tituli
Because he sucked
COVID doesnt make it more difficult for one person alone
Who talks about Pirlo
No one does that

The downfall was signing CR7 and committing to this idea of needing to win a CL title, needing star striker to do that, rather than rebuilding what was an already aging, stagnating, side. That with a few other bad investments (high money for players who didn't return as much) + covid prevented the immediate recovery

Yes fans salvate over these signings but the club directors need to be more shrewd

Sarri is shit and I dislike his guts but lets not kid ourselves, we had already started to regress during the last season of Allegri’s first stint.
Regression started under Allegri in the last season with the Ajax failure and Atalanta shellacking in Coppa. Finished the season with 90 pts (while picking up 2 pts in five rounds after scudetto won) and CL QFs. That only served to mask the issues it seems.

It got worse under Sarri with 7 less points, the worst goal diff of the scudetti run, getting knocked out in CL Rof16 by 7th place team in Ligue 1, getting embarrassed in both cup finals.

Turned to disorganized mess under Pirlo with his poor league form and another embarrassing CL Rof16 exit.

Truly went into free fall with Allegri 2.0 He’s just turned what was a mess into a total clown show. Everything about the club in the last 18 months has gone to shit.
