Maybe he was right after all when he said the team was much better in training. No fans definitely helped players like Matuidi, who wasn't as stressed on the ball as usual.

But if he now goes back to the midfield against Lyon he will dig his own grave.

see maurice, that's what you get with some rested players. consider rotating more and resting your key players regularly: cuadrado, matuidi, sandy and bonbon had their best matches since like october.

coronavirus potentially saved our season.

Don't count on Bologna. Italy's Sports minister is bent on cancelling this season so probably CL is all we have left.
He changes his mind every day. Completely irresponsible and populist as expected with this government. First he said having serie a broadcasted for free as entertainment for those in quarantine, then Tommasi spoke out about cancelling and all of a sudden the minister is outraged that Serie A is being played at all.

0 certainties about what will happen with this people in charge.

Season is far from saved. We're still on the edge of a cliff in CL and only one point ahead of Nazio in Serie A who might benefit from Corona effects on Serie A even more than us. Last night was a step in the right direction, but there's ton of work to be done.

That training atmosphere is brilliant for sarriball. Let's play all our UCL games in empty stadiums.
Up until the final and then you know what happens.

Credit where it is due our best performance of the season (and possibly our only good one over 90 mins).

He finally realised the importance of having a deep midfielder who protects the defence. Bentancur did that beautifully and having a mid to make runs into the box (Ramsey did far better at this in the second half).

We need to build on this now.
Also man marking Lukaku was a positive sign on the stubbornness front.

yeah, that's why i put "potentially" there. it's still a very difficult season hanging by a thread.

Lukaku plays on the right and Bonucci on left now. Was it really man marking?

Are you having to run more or less miles this week?

Matuidi tends to do well when he gets enough rest. Also, tends to be more effective in more open and bigger games than against smaller teams that park the bus.

Also, there's a clear trend here: started all three seasons well, then dipped, then played well again starting around R16, and then dipped again and ended season poorly.

The other day he was complaining that players werent moving the ball fast, last night they were moving the ball much faster and we played good football.
the other day he said that he didn't like long balls because they were too risky. yesterday one of the key moments of the match was that 40-50m long ball from bentancur to dybala.
the other day he said that ramsey can play trequartista, while the player clearly wasn't comfortable doing it. then he moved ramsey to mezz'ala, and rambo started scoring + assisting.
the other day he insisted on high pressure and very high defensive line while the team clearly wasn't capable. yesterday he moved the team a bit back, with less pressure on the opponent, with a defensive line closer to our goal, with the mids not leaving too much space before the defenders, thus making the team more compact then ever this season, and despite some defensive errors here and there, we looked like a more or less solid team again.
the other day he kept playing pjanic, no matter how bad his form was, while he should have been benched months ago. yesterday he finally made this incredibly hard decision, and our midfield clicked again. playing our most in-form players might help, more news at 11.
the other day he kept playing bonucci, cuadrado, matuidi and alex sandro, while they clearly needed some rest.
the other day he said that neither of dybala and ronaldo are suited to play as wingers. guess what happened after the dybala-costa sub.
etc...

let's not try to blame the players for not following his orders. it was time HE adapted to the squad finally. he could still consider relegating costa to an impact sub role, keeping the team compact for 90 minutes above making 800 quick passes (remember when he said something like i don't like to defend, i rather concede on the counter, my god...), or getting pjanic in form before playing him again.

He was messing with Conte's head.
Genius.
