Isla unsure of Juventus future
By Football Italia staff

Juventus’ Mauricio Isla says he has no idea where he will be playing his club football next season.

The Chilean international joined the Turin giants from Udinese last summer in a co-ownership, but he’s had his problems at Vinovo.

The 24-year-old has appeared in only 11 League games since his arrival and just eight from the first minute.

“I was penalised at Juventus by a few injuries,” Isla, who snapped knee ligaments last season in Udine, told Radio ACN.

“I don’t know if I will stay as my agent is looking after that side of things.

“I can only say that I have received a number of offers from clubs in Italy and from sides in Spain as well.

“The decision, however, is down to Juve and Udinese seeing as they own my contract.”

I saw some guy today trying to suggest there was an 'obligation' to sign Isla as well as Asamoah. There's no such thing, as it goes to negotiations up until the point of a blind auction as a last resort if teams can't agree.

But as has been said before, teams often go through with deals to keep good relations, which we have with Udinese. It doesn't stop us negotiating, but it's not really in our interest to try to steal players from teams we get good players from. We don't have the advantage we did in Moggi's day, with his son running the major player agency.

Of course there is and we do have an obligation to buy them.

Of course this is not an official legally binding obligation but a gentleman's agreement, as we discussed previously for Pepe, Quag and Motta.

Beppe has made that deal and he has to keep it otherwise he's done in this business.

You don't think Isla's agent would be pretty well aware of what the deal was between Juve and Udinese?

Would seem odd for him to view things as so open with regards to where Isla will be next season if there was real certainty Juve had to buy the other half of Isla this summer.

Isla hasn't played at a reasonable standard for over a year. Arbeloa and Essien are better right now.
agreed..i have seen nothing special from this guy. you can be injured half an year but you can get one cross right. donno what was the match (maybe vs milan 1st game..when he couldn't deliver one cross in the 1st half)

Nope, he's ours, only question is whether we will keep him or if we will decide to sell him on.

Seriously.. Why not? Isla > Arbeloa/Essien
Based on what exactly? We all know he's got ability for sure & I'm willing to give him another season to prove his worth. But being fatigued playing no games made me chuckle.

I was Just going by his comment he gave last year.

I did explain that in the next paragraph. Also these are co-ownership deals, not loan to buys, the overall price is not set on the first agreement, which is why we will negotiate.

He is not worth the effort. He seems to be needing lots of playing time to gain some form.... and even when he has the excuse to be off form..... he seems VERY average at best.

Seriously... i didnt saw any spark in him the whole season..... at leats not the one that we were promised.

He'll be around next season. We aren't obligated to make a decision this summer and i don't see us putting up another 9mil and then banking on selling his ass after such an indifferent season.

It doesnt matter what exact form of a purchase you make, whether its a loan, loan + obligation, coownership or whatever, what matters is the agreement the parties informally have, and in this case I'm 99% sure that the price has already been set and that no negotiations on price will be taking place. We purchased him fully already, the coownership deal is just formal.
