i remember when in 2012/13 he broke into milan's first team. he looked quick, good on the ball, pretty good in duels, a lot of well timed tackles, and above all, he could play on either sides on a similar level. he looked very talented. home grown for milan, young, cheap, good - we didn't have a similar defender for a while. (milan also had abate, both homegrown, both looked to be their fullbacks for a decade, i wished we had two legit hg fullbacks)

and in hindsight that was his best season ever. he peaked at 20. what a career
That entire generation of Italian players flopped hard. De Sciglio, Giovinco, Balotelli, Poli, Montolivo, Rugani etc etc. None of them reached the level they were expected to. Veratti I guess being the only genuine star. Maybe Insigne.

The result was guys like Pirlo and Buffon continued to feature well into their late 30s until the generation after started to turn out much better.

The reason the boards have been keeping him and extending his contract every year is because he is an italian, he should have been sold to a team like empoli.

Rumor has it that De Sciglio was the first Juve player who arrived at J-medical to have medicals. This shouldn't be a surprise because nobody else is more familiar with this place than he is.

He deliberately slowed down before entering, but no one, not a single fan, asked for his signature or photo.
