Apparently, his career with Bayern Munich is coming to an end, i thought that he'd stay at bayern for a long period of time.

the salary is the problem, look at the list taken from Bayern forum - he is the third most paid central defender in the world, those are net figures:

Looking at net salaries in euros (because that's the fairest way to compare):
  • 10 800 000 € Alaba
  • 9 240 000 € Marquinhos
  • 8 480 000 € De Ligt
  • 8 308 191 € Stones
  • 7 308 884 € Van Dijk
  • 7 000 000 € Militao
  • 7 000 000 € Rüdiger
  • 6 500 000 € Kounde
  • 6 309 577 € Saliba
  • 5 984 222 € Ruben Dias
  • 5 984 222 € Gabriel
  • 5 500 000 € Bastoni
  • 5 000 000 € Bremer
  • 3 360 000 € Araujo

I doubt bayern has problem to keep their key players in term of money, but i see nothing wrong about his salary, you should afford the salary if you want a world class defender.

the argument are his injury problems too, when you pay so much for the defender u expect him to be available, but u get this:

De Ligt has absolutely stagnated. Not being the number 1 (or 2) in Holland is a bad mark on his profile. His Bayern career is kind of disappointing. I think we get the better end of the stick in the whole deal.

Yep spot on, I actually not been keeping up with football as much as usual, i still believe he should have stayed at juve, as i remember he was quick, aggressive and physically imposing when he was at juventus and less serious injury during his time with juve than what he's dealing at the moment.

i think its just not worth paying so much for the defender in the end, he is not a failure, but the old fart like Acerbi can do similiar work for much less. Also for me u expect defender to be always available , in order to gain that defensive stability, in his case it seems like its hard to overcome those injuries.

If man ure came calling for me Id stay the fuck away, that club has no fucking clue whether they want to keep ten hag or not, without clarity how the fuck can the club plan for the summer ahead? seriously Ratcliffe has made a bigger mess of that club and its fucking beautiful to watch it burn.
