That is also true, and i’d be lying to say i did not want him here back then, but as could be seen with his more ‘attacking football’ national team he did not excel there either during that time, and after his departure from Juve he also did not hit the ground running in an offensive football machine like Bayern, although admittedly he also caught them in their worst period of time, but neither did he do much to actually improve them defensively(nor in terms of playing out from the back for that matter), which if we are to be honest is what you normally expect from your highest paid defender.

Don’t get me wrong, he is a good defender overall and still has plenty of room to mature towards becoming even better, but so far he is being judged on what he does in the present, which is someone that doesn’t necessarily standout anymore and is just aligned on the same level as the rest of team, therefore he hasn’t justified the wages and pricetag relative to his performances.
