This reeks of the same 'deal' we signed with Pogba and Raiola back then. Sign a contract extension now, we promise to let you go next summer.

That's why I don't think the club minds the lower release clause. Without it there is no contract extension and without contract extension you have to sell him right now and have to replace him on top of everything else.

At least a lower release clause gives you almost a guaranteed amount of money you will get because he is still super young, on long term contract etc. My bet is Chelsea or Barcelona sign him for 80m next summer.

But there is slightly little difference , back then Pogba was a fucking beast maybe the best MF in the league one of the best in Europe , unlike De Ligt , whom was more rated 3 years ago .

"The discussion regarding the renewal of Matthijs #deLigt with #Juventus is well advanced. There won't be any ugly surprises around the corner. For the renewal, there is still some small things to be done, but it's a hot topic."

And in a month he gets sold.

It's really not that bad but if he isn't sure he wants to be here just move on already. I'm sure whoever we get will be a downgrade (unless it's Koulibaly) but we can't have players treating us like a stepping stone
Post of the month for me my friend! For the money you can get now for him, good scouting by management and two quality players can be had.

If MDL you really aren't 100% wanting to be here, GTFO ASAP! I mean really looking over how he has performed at Juve for what his salary is MDL has not be the kind of star I expected. I'm so tired hearing that he is so young and will be this and that down the road. He's getting paid now like it's down the road. The clumsy PKs he has committed tells me he might have been a good rugby player also.

Only local players see Juventus as their final destination. Most non-Italians (with some exceptions) will always look for new experiences at some point in their careers. I bet De Ligt will try both La Liga and EPL eventually.

Too bad Italy struggles with talent these days, there are barely any quality players to choose from, so the club has to rely on foreign players way too much.

He always said this wasn't his last step in his carreer. He is a good defender but we should realise if we want to take the Risk to lower his releaseclause or he play for two more years and is a free agent. Some players want to experience several topclubs. Look at Seedorf, Suarez etc. Good time for our staff tot evualate the situation.

The problem for me isn't that, it's the talking about our bad results as though he didn't take part in them.
Exactly, how many easy goals and penalties has he given away? He had a lot of awful games, especially if you consider his price tag and wages. It’s a bit ungrateful the way he speaks. If he wants to leave sell to epl and get koulibaly and Bremer.

Listened to the interview in Dutch and honestly he didn’t say anything shocking. Just a honest answer that we wants the best for his development, but at this point he’s a Juventus player and he’s focusing on us. We have to realize though that Juventus isn’t the most loved club in The Netherlands so whenever a journalist is able to hint him towards another club they seize the opportunity.

But let’s not forget, Raiola spoke openly about him leaving months ago.

Italian media are gambling on a renewal.

Really like de Ligt but let’s face it he’s not going to be playing for us for his whole career. This summer if he doesn’t renew would be the best time to sell, next summer if he does.

Honestly think we could spend the money for him on other areas and actually improve the team overall

Sell his ass and bring with that money Bremer and Koulibaly and we are in a better position.
I said let's get 2 for 1 deal and I that one would be okay. For me that would be the starting CBs from day 1. Though if MDL release lowered to say 80M still might be a little short on even swap for pair. Rather take Bremer badly and another younger, less costly option than Kouli.

Remember Juve probably overpaid for the last big purchase from Nap and guy makes 6M a year probably want more or longer contract which I wouldn't want to give him being 30? Not only going by age but like to look at mileage for a player. MDL already has played 18K+ minutes in his career and we know how hard he plays. Bono 46K and even Chielli only 34K+ total. Kouli has 28+ so I love Bremer but just give another player to pair with him.

We all know MDL will leave eventually and I say forget Bono in the equation leaving only one good CB Juve can count on for 2022-23.. Get 80M now and purchase two good starting CBs which are needed. The guy right now is the highest priced CB in the world, is that correct? How much higher could the number go to? That 120M makes it reasonalbe to get 80/90M. Sell the stock now before it loses it's value and from what I read it apparently already has. And with Juve medical team God forbid he gets injured.

:agnelli:
You need more than one good CB, don't get greedy.
