Captain of a sinking ship? :howler: :b81:

I'm sure he'd be thrilled.

Also, as a xenophobic cub, do you think we'd give the armband to a young, non-Italian defender? Good luck with that.
It would be symbolic, like moving away from these duds like Bonucci, Alex Sandro, Szczesny to a new generation. Basically marginalizing them. De Ligt, Chiesa that's the future and that's who we should build around

One thing is clear, we have to act this summer, either renew on a long term contract (hopefully on a bit more normal wages) or sell him. We will get maybe 60% of his value next summer with 1 year remaining on his contract and he'll have a lot more leverage in the renewal negotiations next summer as well.

I am sure Ten haag wants him as well as De jong who is close to joining man utd according to rumours.See if Bremer is the replacement then sure but otherwise it will be a massive hole to plug in after chiellini retirement.

He's a big big asset for us, his value is like 15-25% from the value of the whole squad put together, we cant afford to not handle this properly after the Dybala disaster.

Dybala 2 years ago was in the same situation, we neither sold him nor extended him and it lead to us losing Dybala for free, a guy that was worth at least 50-60m 2 summers ago.

But we need proper replacements otherwise it is same thing of weakening one department to strengthen the other department.

Id rather sell him now for 80m and sign a (probably inferior) CB for 30m (plenty of options on the market) than sell him with a heavy discount next summer or lose him for free 2 summers after that, its too costly. If we want to compete with the rich clubs in CL in the long run, the mgmt of our resources has to be perfect.

Of course best case scenario is signing him to a longterm contract, but somehow I have doubts about that given his ridiculous current wage.

What if he doesn't renew? We're then left with a Dybala situation, where we sell him for less or he walks for free.

Until we get back to playing good football and being relevant in Europe, we're not going to be an attractive destination for players outside Serie A. Over the past three seasons, we've failed miserably in Europe, and we play atrocious football. We got eliminated by Lyon, Porto and Villareal, hardly giants of the game. Would you, as a player, consider coming to Juve, unless you are already plying your trade in Serie A and feeling comfortable here?

Why would they choose us over the likes of Real, Barca, PSG (money money money), City and Liverpool? Heck, why would they even choose us over shitcunts like United, or even Milan and Inter right now?
This is 100% what will happen.

It's also a combination of it seems to be an increasing trend with younger players as well as we just can't afford to renew him.
We fucked up real bad when we made him our best paid player bar Ronaldo. Top 5 or so best paid defender in the world at the time while not being one. There's not enough room for us to negotiate to increase that salary without making him the top 5 paid CB in the world again, while being our best paid player yet again.

Another Paratici masterclass. Personally, I don't think he'll ever be worth it either.
