Man, he's doing these childish mistakes with poor positioning again and again, it's unbelievable

And here he sits WAY TOO DEEP and creates onside for Pavoletti and for other Cagliari's players :sergio:

How did it happen? well he fell asleep at his own half when Dybala was with the ball but people will still praise him ofc since he's a golden boy

Sandro, Rabiot, Arthur, Bentancur are scapegoats but golden boy DL is untouchable even even despite the fact that we've conceded a numerous of a goals because of him

De Ligt was clearly tracking Pavlotti's run which is what any defender with half brains would do while defending a counter. Chiellini was closing down the crosser, what is Arthur's role here? Just running back like a headless chicken close to Joao Pedro. When Joao Pedro receives the ball, he takes a comfortable touch and place the ball into the net while Arturd is star gazing.

Stop these stupid screenshots if you don't understand how a counter is defended by a CB.

Dummy of the week, he fall asleep at his own half and created onside for Pavoletti and was caught out of position, he should have been following Chiellini to control the offside line, instead he decided to stay at his own half for NO REASON while Juventus has had possession

I don't know why I argue with you if this is how you think a counter is defended.

Zonal marking doesn't work while defending a counter attack. That's why Chiellini covered for Pellegrini closing down the wing and expected Arthur to stay close to Joao Pedro all the way since he was the one tracking him back.

He should have been following chiellini to control the line when dybala was with the ball, how you don't get simple things? he shouldn't stay deep alone, it's a childish mistake

So your idea is to empty the center of the defense and leave Pavelotti completely alone? :D

Rule #1 in defending a counter is to make sure the central area of the pitch is protected and push the opponents to attack wide when they break.

The counter would have been offside if the defense hold their line. It was poor defensive organization
Nah Pavelotti was behind the half line when Cagliari won the ball.

Some people don't understand basic football things
Irony lol

You do realise that MDL's positioning is wrong ? If you don't how about reading about central defenders positioning during possession of the ball in the attacking third ?

It is NOT.

If he was further up, the Cagliari player who won the ball would've instantly sent a diagonal ball to an unmarked onside Pavelotti.
If he was further up then Pavoletti's positioning would have been absolutely different, how you don't get it??De Ligt should have been staying around kick off spot, it would have forced Pavoletti to either drop deeper or to move to the left to Danilo's zone

So the starting point of de Ligt and Pavelotti are about the same when they both make a run to win the ball behind the defense?

You only do this kind of offside-inshallah defending when you're 0-1 down at the 90th minute.

The starting point is that MDL fell asleep and then he was forced to backtrack and cover Pavoletti and even then he fucked up and sat way too deep
No, this is what central defenders have to do, control the line and look after each other, Konate covers Antonio, VVD pushes up the field to get the pass, but by your logic in situation like this Konate or any other central defender should stay in 5-10 metres deeper LOL
asdasd.jpg

Or another example when Liverpool has had 9 players in the attacking 3rd and lost the ball
qwe.jpg

You see? VVD is pressing Antonio, you see what Konate is doing? But by your logic Konate should have been running back :sergio:

So you say he was forced to backtrack and cover Pavelotti when he was literally in front of him, imagine what type of backtracking he'd do if he was pushing further up leaving Pavelotti all alone. In that scenario, the Cagliari player who won the ball would have instantly sent the ball behind the defense instead of carrying the ball forward down the wing.

There was nothing wrong with how the players were positioned defending that counter, the problem was their actions or lack thereof. Arthur was supposed to stay close to Joao Pedro and Danilo should've joined in closing him down since there were no Cagliari players attacking on his side.

It's a very bad positioning by central defender, you simply don't understand a shit about football
What backtracking? Jesus christ, you've got other players who will be tracking back

Our players just switch off it has costed us so many goals. In today match Arthur is so slow to close down Pedro shot or make last ditch tackle shows what badly assembled squad this is one of the player with the most cost is totally useless.
