Idk will it?

Could just as well make it worse if you bench him now. I'd keep playing him. It's not like we have Chiello on the bench anyway.
The kid needs to be talked to. We need to make it clear it's not because we don't believe in him but simply because we want to protect him from all the (exaggerated) criticism he is receiving (he's been asked about it a lot in the media etc. and even his teammates have - see Bonucci's latest interview). You can clearly see it's affecting him as he is playing with lesser confidence than earlier in his career where he moved the ball well and only played the ball forward. The only thing he is doing right now is playing it sideways to either Bonucci or Sandro. However, a goal here or a great performance against a good opponent could be a cure as well.

Having said that, it's really unfortunate how he has been rushed in the starting 11 with Chiellini's injury because I do believe he would benefit greatly from partnering with him as he would cover his mistakes more than Bonucci does.

Yeah, easy to blame him as his errors are often very obvious, but our entire defensive game (not just the 4 guys at the back) is just atrocious at times.
It's baffling.
We're not defending as a unit right now. Even though Bonucci has had a great season, thus far, he's not really one to organize and marshal the backline like Chiellini would. So we have a bunch of individuals defending back there without a lot of organization. To make matters worse, our midfielders are helping the backline far less than in previous years too, so it's a bit of sink or swim from the defensive line.

Thinking optimistically, this could help our defenders grow into better individual defenders over these few months, and better organization and understanding will slowly develop as the season progresses. Pessimistically, it could shatter the confidence of some of them and cause that understanding to never develop. Hopefully the former, not the latter.

so he will have a long and very successful Juventus career while being rated amongst the best CBs in the world? I like De Ligt too but lets calma

more extremities then he had before the game? :shifty:
See bonucci was surrounded by world class defenders to help him become a great defender and Conte created a system to bring out the best in him but I am happy initial hype of comparing with Alessandro Nesta would have settled down

He needs to be dropped.. He has caused 5-6 goals this season.. hes very young and comes from a completely different style in Holland..

It will take time but he must be dropped until he can regain his confidence and earn everyones trust in his ability.. at this moment hes a liability..

No rime for soft measures.. at the moment he isnt up to Juve standard of defending..

We tried, but he is still too clumsy, the penalty was too harsh and was only given because the ref is corrupted, but still De Ligt ought to know it and don't give him such a chance and this is not the first time. He needs to train with tied arms or smth, maybe get a couple of months on the sidelines and let some space on Demiral.
De Ligt will inevitably be our future, but atm he can't even cope against Lecce without getting involved in a crucial incident...
