Juve & Milan In Final Day Battle For Ferrari

Juventus and AC Milan are locked in a titanic struggle to sign Roma defender Matteo Ferrari before the end of the transfer window tonight, according to reports in Italy.

Ferrari’s contract with the Giallorossi runs out at the end of the season, and negotiations to renew his deal are not progressing particularly smoothly.
The 28-year-old is free to negotiate with other clubs about a Bosman transfer in the summer, however Juventus and Milan want to sign the stopper immediately for a minimal fee.
Ferrari currently earns £1.2 million-a-year in Rome, and the two northern giants may be prepared to offer considerably more than this.
If this proves to be the case then Ferrari is likely to accept the proposal, and Roma in tandem will work out a small compensation package for his transfer fee.
Juventus would still like to bring in another defender before the end of today, as they currently have just two natural centre backs available in the form of Nicola Legrottaglie and Guglielmo Stendardo.
Sports director Alessio Secco has received heavy criticism for allowing too many stoppers to go, and Juve’s shortcomings were exposed last night as they conceded three during the Coppa Italia exit to bitter rivals Inter Milan.
Milan are also looking for extra cover at the back with Paolo Maldini unable to play twice a week due to his 39-year-old legs.

I think he would suit us even with Ranieri as our coach. He has been good for a year and a half and i think he would be best option to buy to help out our defence untill summer when he can be back up if we sign some WC CB. I doubt he would be expencive. Anyway he`s much better then Mellberg and that Lucchini guy.
Ferrari is not better than Mellberg. You are underestimating Mellberg.

"I have never found myself in this kind of situation and I must say that I am not pleased, but I must think of my future," said Ferrari.
“My chances of staying at Roma are 50 out of 100.”

He said he wants new contract with higher wages. At the moment his wages are 1.7 and he said he wants to have like Mexes and that`s 2.5mln per year.

Boumsong was also drawing 2.5 (Ironically, our highest paid defender).
While Andrade and Legro r drawing lesser. Secco ...

If we were to get Ferrari, we will need to match his demands

Will it still be a good deal ?? :shifty: .

Ferrari is much better than Boumsong but still 2.5 is alot.I`d offer him 2 max. since next season we`ll have much higer wages when we buy some WC players. :xfinger: and Chiellini / Palla will probably renew contract and get much more.We might have a lot of DCs but we don`t have quality so we could use Ferrari.

Ferrari could speed into Milan

Ferrari's current contract at Roma expires in the summer and as yet he has failed to agree a new deal, enabling him to leave for nothing in the summer.

The news has alerted Milan who are ready to offer the Italian international a move to the Giuseppe Meazza.

Ferrari, who had a loan spell at Everton in the 2005/06 season, is believed to be keen on a move to Milan.

Milan are in the market for defensive reinforcements with Paolo Maldini set to retire at the end of the current campaign.

The Rossoneri are ready to offer Ferrari a lucrative four-year deal to try and bring him to the club with Milan's offer believed to be better than the one on the table from Roma.
