Alessandro Matri has hailed the team’s resolve after the Bianconeri battled to an important victory over a spirited Udinese side. Speaking after the final whistle, the 27-year-old began: "It was an important test, in which we showed great character for the way in which we managed to react to Udinese's equaliser."
The striker’s double raised his tally to nine for the season, an ideal response to the critics after a recent barren period in front of goal.
"I had a short spell in which I didn't manage to get on the scoresheet,” stated Matri. “ As a striker this can happen, but the important thing is to remain calm. Of course I've felt a bit of pressure, given that I read the papers, but you do all you can to transfer criticism into a positive boost and the group have helped me greatly with this."
The frontman is preparing to celebrate his one-year anniversary as a Juventus player, following his transfer day arrival in 2011. He concluded: "It's been a year packed full of emotions. Last year didn't end as we'd hoped, but now things are going well. The manager's doing a great job and even when we change our formation we're able to express ourselves to our best."
