We will have. There'll be a point where Koop pushes for the move but if Atalanta won't move on the price and force him to stay we'll move onto another choice, but doubt it'll be a last minute thing.

What I'm asking myself is that if we wanted to sign Soule based on the season he had, would Roma sell him to us for that price?

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have sold him to Juve for +/- 30m euro if he was their player.
I also don't think they would have sold him for that amount to Inter and Milan either.
However, I also believe think that none of these clubs would have even considered signing him this summer if he were a Roma player and if Roma were willing to sell him for 30m euro.

i don't think it's about anything else than the books. giuntoli inherited a terrible mess financially and with way too many bad contracts. of course there are multiple solutions to this puzzle, neither of them guarantee success and all of them can be evaluated in hindsight. i would have done a few things differently too. still, since soulé had a market, he was one of the first players to be sold, out of pure necessity. and again, i don't think it has to do anything with his quality or personality. in this case he's not a player but an asset

I agree and understand that aspect, what I'm criticizing is the fee and how we got got by roma.

We have been making 100-200M losses every year for the last 3-4 seasons and people expect us to keep our youngsters AND reinforce like half the squad with no money. Let's be real here.

JJ want to get back to the top quickly but they also have a financial need.

I sometimes get the feeling that some people think we are still the Juventus of the 90s/early 00s in terms of financial power and prestige. As you correctly said, we are in financial turmoil, we have huge debts due to COVID + poor mismanagement + the bullshit UEFA-enforced exclusion from the CL last year. It will take ages to shake off this debt and become financially stable again. So far, Giuntoli has done a pretty admirable job of attempting to reinforce the squad on a tight budget.

This also won’t be the only time we are forced to sell our promising prospects for “low” fees as well. Honestly, we are lucky we have the NextGen project in place to help us sell these players to help with our financial difficulties and using it to sign our main targets.

Oh and another thing; people also need to temper their expectations if they think we are going to plug every hole in the squad and sell all of our trash in one mercato. It’s going to take a few windows yet, but the job has definitely begun in earnest.
