It’s both, which is obvious. Squad quality has completely gone in the shitter and we just sold our best player and only real goalscorer in the last week of the transfer window. Add to that, Max hasn’t close to figured out how to get the squad we do have to perform with any sort of consistency and you get this abysmal mess we have now. We show flashes where we look like a solid, organized team that can grind results but will always struggle to score (best case scenario for this squad makeup) and then we completely fall off into the shitter. That’s on both the coach and the shitty attitude, lazy, overpaid players.

No one thinks Max is currently doing good enough, conversely no one thinks this squad is near good enough, and the lack of a consistent goalscorer is the cherry on top of this mess. Allegri’s going to get at least this year, and part of next, and rightly so. This summer he’ll get a chance to at least partially rejuvenate the squad on the market. Then there’s no excuses left and it is shit or get off the pot time. Like @GordoDeCentral said. A few months into next season if we aren’t seeing consistent performances time to hit the road.

That's fine then. We better just hope for at least some improvement for the last third of the season, because if there isn't any and we begin struggling again that's going to be a risk in itself to keep him on. We actually weren't even that bad at the end of last year, sneaking into the CL spot with a series of good results against tougher sides, yet Pirlo was still sacked.

Continue with chances for talents and maintain somewhat of a balance as I understand that we can’t suddenly ignore Berna, Sandro and Rabiot. But player development should be the main target now. It’s sad in a way but I think that the fourth place is getting out of reach.

While that is true, I sort of have a different take, which is from my professional work experience. If you're going to hire someone new without much experience, you're taking on the person as an investment for the future since chances are they're going to need time to learn and adapt to the role. You're also taking on the risk that it might take longer to see results. While on the other hand, I would expect the person with more experience to have a more immediate impact, meaning that this person shouldn't need as much time as the one without experience. So in a logical world, a sound management team would probably give less time for the experienced person to show value, managing expectations along the way. That's why I think we have multiple fuck-ups here by our management, since there doesn't seem to be any clear strategy with our appointments, or signings, or anything for that matter.

Dont see the logic in contemplating firing a coach midseason next year, if Max still doesnt show promise by the end of this season let him go. He's underachieving badly so far this season and a full season of that for me would be enough proof that he's lost it.

I would say it is because we obviously hired him for a transition and rebuild. Those things happen with mercatos. If we had sold Ronaldo early last summer and invested heavily I would say one year is enough too. But given that we did the opposite, I’d say allowing a proper mercato next summer and seeing how things look to start next season would be the way things should go.

By promise I mean a decent finish that implies that with 2-3 signings we can be back in the Scudetto conversation where we obv should be. In that case I'm also pro stability, even if we finish outside of top4 due to a crappy first half of the season. However, if it continues to look like we need a whole new team, I dont see how giving Allegri the summer mercato changes anything, because obviously we'll have budget restraints and cant sign a completely new team.
