The topic title should be changed to Massimliano "Oldfart" Allegri.
The issue of squad weakness is the second problem, our main problem is Allegri's outdated tactics and approach. Modern football is based on heavy pressing. Look at the teams we have dropped points against them: Empoli Verona Sassuolo Atalanta Venezia. All of these teams are weaker than us in terms of players and lineups, but they are using modern tactics and they press high. In fact, Allegri lost tactically to Dionisi Tudor Zanetti and Gasp.
The style we play is outdated and no longer works in today's football. Other examples of this style are Mourinho and Simeone, who are in troubles too.

How did we fare playing a ‘modern style’ under Pirlo and Tudor as AM last season with a striker capable of scoring?

Allegri didn't bring much here compared to Pirlo. Paying him high wages makes no sense at this point. Our performances are pathetic.

You can't just say that another coach won't make a difference without any evidence. The fact is, nobody really knows at this point. We fired Pirlo and brought back Allegri because we supposedly thought he could make a difference, but he's not whatsoever. There's been plenty of cases where a total outsider comes into a club and does make a difference. It's just about the making the right choices.

The arguments to rehire Allegri were as follows:

- Adapts his tactics to the squad he has
- Gets the best out of the players he has
- Keeps a tidy defense
- Maintains a high work rate in training and matches
- Multiple Scudetti

So far none of it is coming to fruition, especially since even players like Chiesa have seemingly taken a step down. I know Allegri is going to get this full season and very likely another after that. Just curious to see what the actual breaking point will be for some of you, or if it will always be a case of expecting better signings the next year. We may not get them with everything going on.

And we should realize that Max has a long contract and a pretty high salary. Firing him would make us lose so much money again. Firing Max is out of the question for the coming years.

We are at a point that the jabroni’s are very close to leaving, and the new generation is knocking on the door. We need continuity from the board and the manager. If those two elements are fucked up it brings a lot of instability.

We will lose points with the likes of Soule, Fagioli and Rovella starting, no doubt. But it’s really about rebuilding the squad and add a few quality signings instead of rebuilding the staff again.

Yesterday was in a sense a historic moment when Soule took that freekick. I can’t remember another moment when a talent made his first minutes on the pitch and took the decisive freekick. It says a lot about the quality within the squad, but above all our way of thinking, as something like that was impossible in the past.

Continue with chances for talents and maintain somewhat of a balance as I understand that we can’t suddenly ignore Berna, Sandro and Rabiot. But player development should be the main target now. It’s sad in a way but I think that the fourth place is getting out of reach.

Pirlo had good ideas but was not able to implement them because he was not basically a coach. It doesn't happen overnight to change style and build a pressing-based team. Two years ago, we made the right decision to change our style, but with the wrong person. Sarri was not suitable for working in the big team, after that Pirlo came without any experience.
Now we are back to where we were at the end of the 2018/19 season and we need to change our style again, but this has to happen with the right coach and we have to give him enough time.

we've been playing like shit since the home loss vs manure. the entire last half a season was a mess with allegri, the sarri season was like pulling teeth besides some exceptions like beating inda, we played just a few good games with pirlo too. and the last league winner material squad was the sarri one, the midfield is getting worse by every season, with the exception of locatelli. and we lost ronaldo.

you'd see very similar result with most coaches. unbalanced, overpaid mercenaries with zero ties to the club, a bad combination of oldies and youngsters, zero leadership.

i'd bring luis campos. it can only get better if we have a competent director.

Dybala can't play three games in a row good luck expecting him to score goals.It would be better to do a total cleanup of the squad rather than do panic signings like kean unless it is somebody like Vlahovic .

Well I guess we disagree there. IMO our squad is not great, no material to chase Serie A and let alone CL, but we have plenty of names that should get us to the 4th place without such struggles. Being close to 10th place is simply underachieving.

And again, if I look at it that way, then signing Allegri made 0% literally.

of course allegri is levels above pirlo, no two ways about it. but our '17 squad is levels above this one too, so who are we kidding, bringing back allegri and keeping paratici with his recruiting strategy at this point is an other guaranteed disappointment. just remember when milan sold/released half of their (ageing) key players and never replaced them. he's no miracle maker.

either we bring a coach AND give him proper players (and none of our midfielders is proper unfortunately), or just settle for other goals. unfortunately we were too optimistic, this is not a scudetto winning squad for this or the next season, with or without allegri.
