People say Allegri can’t build a team but no one here knows that. He’s been here for 3 months with this squad that fell apart over the last three seasons. Building a squad from this shit takes time and multiple transfer windows, regardless of who the coach is. I’m not saying Allegri will succeed, or that current management is capable of even putting together a new dominant squad for the future, but any manager is going to have their work cut out for them over the next couple seasons with the squad we have.

Conte left us in 2014 because he was unhappy with the quality of the squad and Allegri won a double and reached CL final... Vidal, Pirlo and the rock solid defense were fundamental for his first season here. Now Conte will have to coach mediocre overrated players with impotent attack no midfield and questionable defense. I'm not so sure that he would do any better.

And what did Conte get? A complete clearout of any player he didn't want here. We invested heavily in Diego, Amauri and Felipe Melo not long before he came and we took losses on them just to get rid of them.

Sorry bro , but this line of reasoning can be applied to the chain smoker and pirlo also.
We actually don't have any guarantees that he is going to build a great squad regardless of the number of mercato windows .
That's how arsenals are born. Keep hopping every year is going to be different.
Also not making cl is going to affect the quality of players brought in , while good players are going to want out.
The gist of it is , if he doesn't improve our fortunes over the likes of pirlo then he has to go.

The reason is very simple. We had Pirlo who had zero experience as a coach, he had low wages too. We brought Allegri who has 5x bigger wages and good record behind him. And you wanna say we should stay the same? If that's true then firing Pirlo was the stupidest thing we did since we're wasting money on Allegri who's offering as much as him.

Firing Pirlo might have been the stupidiest thing, but so was getting rid of Max, then hiring Sarri and getting rid of him, then getting Pirlo and getting rid of him and then getting Max again. Our board is fully responsible for the players they've bought and trying to change coach every year to cover up their mistakes. I wouldn't even certainly blame our players, because they clearly weren't born with the capabilities to play proper football and our people caught the trap by buying them on first impression.

If i was responsible for this mess, i'd fire myself.

Yup we are screwed. The choices are to either keep him around until his contract runs out or to bet on a young cheap coach and hope they turn out to be a gem. We will probably never sign a big coach again. They were too expensive in the past,and its only going to get worse.

The only saving grace is that we are still much wealthier than the local competition.

It is the only choice we have we need a clean slate as it happened in 2011 and obviously it will take time to restart any winning cycle but patience is needed from our spoilt fans

He was hired by Liverpool after a disaster failure season at Dortmund and given time and a huge transfer budget to build his team. It took 3 years and a completely new squad by the time he was done.

Allegri has earned a measure of patience with his history. And his history isn’t a decade old. All of it is within the past 7 years. If we languish around mid table all season without any improvement, will I change my mind? Yes. I’m worried too. No doubt about it. But as long as I see us improving by the end of the season, he deserves the time and budget to build his team here.

Paying the salary of a good coach is still cheap relative to acquiring new players. I dont think salary is the key argument here. Its better to have a coach who can create a team and develop good players than to buy 5 new players and only utilize 50% of their abilities in a nonsensical tactical setup.

We lost 2 champions from our team and it might have massive effect on our young players. Buffon and Ronaldo clearly were 2 guys to hang around, to learn from and to look up to.

Even Loca started well and has faded away in recent weeks.

I agree with this . Hopefully it all works out in the end. BTW upper management should f' off way before Max has any reason too.

Yeah hard to see another way to do it. To be honest Marotta would be ideal for this situation. He is very astute at building teams at a low cost. I think he has his limits at taking them to the next level but we need a transfer director like that now. I'm not convinced we have a sporting director that can do that now.
