I think style has played a big part in our domination. We've been able to change our style for those past eight seasons when needed which has made us unpredictable. The problem is that there are plenty of people on this forum that only understand and accept one particular style of football. Having said that this seem to be a common theme among your usual football fans.

I would attribute the domination to the squad depth consisting of simply more capable players than the competition in Italy. Coupled with Conte, Max coaching they were able to deploy and get the most out of even the Trashamoah's and Sturaro's.

So it's a mix of flexibility in style plus innately better, deeper squads

We did need another mid, but Matuidi was a horrible choice IMO.

He doesn't have the ability to link up play, yet he frequently finds himself in the final third, messing up our attacks. I think that Matuidi is part of the reason behind Alex Sandro's decline. It's much easier to defend against a fullback who has no one to link up with.

In my opinion, what we needed in the summer of 2017 was a younger and more gifted midfielder; someone like Ramsey, Barella, Naby Keita, etc... someone who can run but also has some decent ability on the ball.

Matuidi was just a poor fit.

He wasnt a bad buy per se, imo if we bought him a year earlier when we were all over him, we would have beaten Madrid in the final. He wasnt the perfect fit, but still a useful tactical weapon. What really hurt us is the loss of Pogba and then the decline of Marchisio and Khedira a year after, and Matuidi alone was never gonna fix that. Just hope whoever the new coach is that he wont have the same problem

Well our board is always trying to stay ahead of the curve. They would rather sell a player one year too early than one year too late. They will change the coach when there is a clear negative trend, before we hit the iceberg.

I can't accept any excuses this year for Allegri. In the past, he has produced results above expectations but this year it was well below. You cannot lose to Ajax with the GOAT in your team, I don't care who is in midfield. By the way, it's not like he is left with Sturaro or something.
