Yeah no doubt we were underdogs against Barca and Real, although I felt we had more of a chance against Real, looking player by player and how both teams played that season. Too bad we had some meltdown at half time.. The issue when you play against Real in final is they have psychological advantage over anyone. Like Juve in Serie A. I prefer playing against them at any stage but final game.

I think Milan underperformed over the 120 minutes. Without Nedved in, our attack became toothless and we settled for penalties, while Milan didnt push. If the situation was reversed and Milan lacked some of their key players, we would have hammered them. Absence of Nedved hurt us too much, he was the best player in the world that season and dragged us all the way to final.
That game was the most boring final ever. We were uninspired and unable to create anything and milan were uncapable of breaking us. With nedved raiding us, we would have steamrolled them.

Don't forget Roque Junior got injured after Milan did their 3 subs. So in ET they effectively played with 10 men.

Their defense better than ours, costacurta/maldini/nesta/kaladze, is one of the best defense i ever saw.

Also without nedved, we dont stand a chance vs their mids. You cant seriously expect tacchinardi and davids to compete vs pirlo, seedrof, gatusso.
Even camo somewhat underwhelming that day, also zambrota is a great wingbacks, but meh as mid.

Talk about being favorites. The Juve team in the 1983 final against Hamburg was filled with the Italian world cup '82 winning squad alongside Platini, Boniek and Bettega. Can't believe we lost the match. Still remember crying and then my friends poking fun at me the next day at school.

ASAP would mean our next game which is Coppa which would kick us out of a completion for silverware.

Incredible that Italy progressed with all the draws in the group stage. But after that, it was beautiful.

the team that was winning games 0-0?

BTW, do we have any old farts on Tuz who would remember the good old days? Of course, the past 8 yrs have been good days as well. And thank God for that before I jinx everything.

I think we might be heading to this formation, an old school 4222.

This requires a lot of workrate from Dybala and Bernardeschi. They both need to drop back and help out with the midfield. We already know that Mandzu runs his socks off.

I've already seen a big improvement in Dybala's workrate in the last 2 games. He was tracking back and winning the ball in our own half against Lazio and Chievo, something he almost never did last season.

This is really risky, but if we can make it work, our team would be incredible.

@Tanu_Mz goes way back, 80s for sure, perhaps the 70s.

Quite a few of us go back to the early 90s and Baggio. But not many further.

'86, because of platini :snoop:

@Nedved96 psg and watford play that kind of 4-2-2-2 quite often. it might just work, but as you pointed out, berna and dybala are our only 2 players who could play those crucial positions. also, week in, week out is out of the question, those 2 guys would die on the pitch. but as a kinda emergency formation to spice up our disgusting play, it looks cool.

Had no idea you went that far back.

I started with Juve after 1990 world cup.
