Plus play Mandzu as a CF when Higgy is in terrible form. Especially with wingers like Costa who can cross.
I would also like to see the 4-3-1-2 return again. We have better attacking personnel than compared to 2015 and players like Higuaín, Bernardeschi, Costa are all much better when we play on the break. Really, we have so many options. We should not waste it for Mandzukic's workrate.
Players like Matuidi have brought stability and balance to the midfield. There's simply no reason why we shouldn't start one of Bernardeschi or Costa every game or even both depending on the opposition.

Confirmed you don't watch the matches.
Yes Berna was subbed on for Bentancur to switch to 442, but look at the position Berna played before Marchisio came on, he played like an RM who helped defensively, not like a forward. It wasn’t until Marchisio came on when Berna got more creative freedom.

It’s not an insult to compare Allegri to Mourinho, laughable that you got so offended by that comparison. Mourinho sometimes plays four attacking players together too (Lukaku, Martial, Rashford, Lingard).

Matuidi is better in a 3 Man midfield

Dybala and Berna should be playing more often

Benching Mandzukic will solve all our offensive problems. We can't be wasting Berna and Costa like this for a glorified LWB

Thank god more people are opening their eyes to these concepts

Well it is a bit of a silly thought but also probably true. Cuadrado and Mandzukic should maybe only play when they are both fit, together. Mario's big advantage is he can win any header he wants against the RB of the other team. But if you play him without someone crossing from the RW, then what's the point...

I’m afraid we are never going to bench Higuain just because of the idiotic sum of money we paid for him.

He has been effective this season when coming off the bench though.

Seems kind dumb to me to play a player ONLY because of the occasional cross hoping he converts the occasional header especially against locked down well organized teams. Need more creativity.

Well the thing is that there's nothing easier against locked down well organized teams than just smashing a cross to the backpost. If you execute it well, there's nothing the other team can do. If Cuadrado has space to aim a cross to Mario against a short RB, what can the other team do? Nothing. The fullback can't grow in height. He's dead.

This is the thought from Allegri, surely. It's not always wrong.

A team of our caliber should have an attacking plan that goes beyond “hoof it to the big guy up top”.

This tactic is considered a meme because of how outdated it is.
I mean, it's not exactly our main objective. But it's undoubtedly a big advantage when you can play the ball from your keeper to Mario and he brings it down every time. And you can play it to the back post, and if you hit the ball right, it's an easy goal.

These things are all a lot easier to accomplish than Douglas Costa dribbling around 5 players. Let's not complicate the game of football too much.

I would look for a way to phase Mario out but I can't pretend that he doesn't offer distinct advantages in certain situations, because he absolutely does.

Today, I would not have played him.

Honestly we practically never hoof the ball, we play it from the back 99.50%
That’s true, we are generally quite good at this too although today we were quite sloppy in the second half.

I don’t mind us playing Mandzukic as a target man, but as I’ve said before, him and Higuain should never be on the pitch together at the same time. We then have two strikers who rely solely on service and can’t create anything themselves like Dybala and Costa can. We should only have one of them on the pitch at all times.
