Our formation had nothing to do with Dybala missing a PK, Higuain missing a sitter, Higuain unlucky on that fluke deflection, our HT mental-meltdown, our defense getting carved out on 2 goals and Buffon giving up a PK on one of those instances.

Blame the defense and Max for resting our key players.

Oh, and how the hell are you going to judge a formation when we were missing our best attacker, our best 2 midfielders, and our best attacking defender? We were in control for 45 mins with that formation how is it even fair to judge?

I think the constant changing of the team every season is taking it's toll.

A lot of players in and out as well as players not being in good form all adds up.

Allegri also shows too much respect to the opposition when we should not take our foot of the gas and he makes the team do exactly that and falls asleep

And have the mobility and dynamism to accomplish all that is asked of a CM in that formation. It worked when we had Vidal, Pogba and Cheesio in world class form (and a functional Asamoah) to play the box to box roles.
That was an anomaly, and we certainly do NOT have that in our current crop of CMs. I can't understand what is so hard to grasp about that.

People just want to play that again out of principle cause they like the formation and just think it will work regardless of the fact we clearly do not have the personnel to make it work

As much as I want to criticise Allegri, all I'll say is that our season will be reflective of our transfer season which in my opinion was poor. I'm no Allegri fan but how can a coach keep dealing with key pieces of this team being dismantled each year ? 2017 and we're still relying on Lichtsteiner, Barzagli and Asamoah who are starting most of the games. This is why I said I have no huge expectations this year.
