in the next 3 months we play Fiorentina, Roma, Napoli and inter all at home. if we win those 4 games, we are definitely back in the scudetto race as top favorites

I don't know what you mean saying this year? You mean 2015 - 2016 season right? Here have a look at his statistic http://www.whoscored.com/Players/20211. Very impressive right, in CL we won 2 in a row against Man City and Sevilla. Yet when he came back and play for full 180' we drew Borussia M.Gladbach twice. In Serie A he did not play for us against Roma, Napoli, Fiorentina. All of them are top 5 team and we lost against them, so please tell me what is so impressed about "we did not lose when Marchisio play". He scored none, assisted none, pick up 4 yellow. What is so spectacular about that? From you standard, Asamoah, Neto and Rubinho are our biggest star this season because we never lose when they playing too.
You've gotta be kidding me.

A player is not measured solely in statistics, particularly somebody who plays Claudio's position (DM), and who was also hurt early in the year.

I never said the player has been spectacular this season -- nobody on the team has been, in case you haven't been watching. Marchisio is a huge stabilizing force in the lineup, he's a huge part of the team -- and if you can't simply see that, if it's not apparent to you that we're a much better team with him in the lineup than without, I don't know what else to say. No point writing an essay on his attributes, as I used to do in the "Casper" days.

You don't think Marchisio could have helped at all against Roma, Napoli, or Fiorentina? Early in the season, during a massive injury crisis, with the team out of sorts? Seriously? Did you see Hernanes get utterly annihilated against Napoli?

My "standard"? Asa, Neto, Rubinho? That's some stronk logic there, fella. :howler:

You know what else is weird? I heard the commentator say that Juve hasn't lost a game that Marchisio has started this year, yet some people on Juventuz continue to insist he's not an extremely important part of our team.

Weird, right?
He is the most important player in the team now because he has no substitute and plays a key role without which none of the other players (the midfield) can function. We need to get him a proper substitute this winter otherwise we will go back to not having an organized midfield and consequently no attack.

He has a completely different role now than he used to during the casper days. Pirlo was doing the role he is responsible for now. Marchisio back then was a box to box who had so many ups and downs (more downs). Pogba took his spot as soon as we knew he was talented.

We're turning the season around so it is a big deal to win 3 in a row, no matter how ugly some of these have looked. Inter have managed to win most of their encounters in this manner so far, presenting even worse displays and getting bailed out by Handanovič on more than a few occassions. We have suffered from some bad luck as well and this will eventually even out.

With this win we skipped past Milan, and are 6 pts behind Roma, despite our dreadful start of the season.
We havent convinced in winning almost at all so the worry is that our run won't continue.

I think one can make that argument, yeah. Although I'd also hate to see our attack without Paulo right now, too.

Where's Cron to bring up history, and explain how we only buy SSs and CMs? :p

I tought Marchisio was MotM, but thats just me.

Him and Barzagli were excellent all game long, but Marchisio was everywhere. Half of the time we were recovering passes or player lines were cut, it was marchisio. All the one touch recoveries or short combinations to get out of trouble from the back, also marchisio, most of the good passes going forward, marchisio.

Milan sucked gigantic balls compared to their usual suckage, because Marchisio's defensive game.

However, if we had an aggressive cm like vidal or Naingollan, instead of Hernanes or Sturaro, Milan wouldnt have gotten past the midline. We really miss an aggressive pressing midfielder.

Well of course he does. He's not being shifted all over the pitch every week, playing LM, or TQ, or wherever a coach needs him to 'do a job'. :p

Make no mistake, his football IQ, his work ethic, they're huge -- he can 'do a job' anywhere in midfield, and beyond.

His attributes though, his qualities, remain the same. He's just now in a position where he can express himself better, where he can play to his strengths.

He definitely interprets the role differently than Andrea -- and he was better than Pirlo in that role last year.

Sorry, you were talking more recent past, my mind immediately went to Juve crisis/Donadoni Italy days.

No i don't see Marchisio as an important player in our team. To please fan, to have a home grown player in our team, yes it is Marchisio importance. But talent wise and contributions, no he is not in top 5.

 ironically we are shortest on these two positions and these are the most important ones for us.

3rd win in a row.

Team is playing with more confidence.

Overall our gameplay has improved in the last few weeks, we're seeing a semblance of a team.

Defence looked solid and Buffon was never troubled, bar that last minute shot from long distance.
Milan were beyond terrible yet we only created one or two chances. We were almost as bad until we scored the goal and then we played with a bit more urgency but otherwise we stunk just a little bit less than Milan. We'll definitely get found out against quality opposition soon just like we did against Roma and Napoli.

Allergi's interview:
A clean sheet and a third consecutive league victory were particularly pleasing points for Massimiliano Allegri to pick up on after watching his men beat Milan 1-0 on Saturday evening at Juventus Stadium.

Speaking to journalists after the game, he began: “I’m very satisfied with the attacking intent of this team, while defensively we did not give much ground away to their frontmen.

“We need to work on the pace of our passes, while we have to be more clinical in the final third. Nevertheless, we showed great solidity at the back today, we kept a clean sheet and so I consider this another step in the right direction.”

Asked about the motives behind changing formation at half-time, the Tuscan tactician explained: “In a 3-5-2, Alex Sandro is able to exploit his pace and willingness to roam forward even more than in a 4-4-2.

“Meanwhile, I believe it’s important to play with three men in attacking positions and it’s true that Dybala operated effectively between the lines today. When (Roberto) Pereyra returns from injury and Hernanes reaches peak condition, we’ll be even less predictable in our build-up play.”

Allegri finished the interview with a word on injuries sustained by Sami Khedira after playing last week with Germany and Patrice Evra, who had to be substituted during the first-half by Alex Sandro.

“Sami’s old scar has worsened since coming back from international duty. He trained well on Thursday, was OK yesterday, but I preferred not to take any risks with him today.

“As far as Patrice is concerned, his ankle has not been at 100 per cent for a little while now. Everyone else is on the road to recovery.”
Clean sheet, rest key players for ManCity clash :allegri:

Whatever formation did we use in our MF are only two names that always should be in the field: pogba and marchisio. If doesn't matter it we play 4-3-3, 3-5-2, 4-3-1-2, 4-4-2 or whatever max wants to practice

We did well against Inter and were arguably closer to victory. That is a good opposition if this season is anything to go by. The games against Roma and Napoli came in a difficult moment as we did struggle in the beginning due to many changes in the squad, but over te last 7-8 games it was rather typical Juve performance of the past few years. We grind results and derby games have never been easy to begin with. The team has shown enough confidence and capability to overcome certain difficultes over the last few months and it looks like players have settled down. We didnt cruise to victory in the last season's derby games (Milan, Roma, Torino...) either and were fortunate to find ourselves on the winning side.

Despite all the struggles we have all but qualifed for the next round in the CL, while being placed in the strongest group of this year's competition and the teams at the head of the Serie A table are whithin our reach. Have people seen Roma yesterday and the way they struggled against Bologna? How many goals they tend to concede per game due to defensive howlers? Inter or Napoli so far? The fact is neither team has been impressive and considering how many points we squandered in the beginning against inferior opposition we are not that far off from the top. And there are 25 games left...

We are improving slowly, but no not much to actually compliment in the game plan itself, we looked incredibly inable to create anything for huge part of the game vs a very poor Milan. Compliments should be reserved for when its deserved.

And fuck me if I ever get too impressed by Juve winning 3 games in a row, it only reminds me how fucking awful we been this season is this is seen as a milestone.

Strongest Serie A in a while though.
