Haha, the haters are out in full force again! Same thing happened when I said that Allegri is a better coach than Conte and he might be good for us and everybody was laughing at me etc. Turned out I was right again!

First of all, I didn't know that Del Piero single-handedly won the World Cup in 2006. Or that just because he scored a goal against Germany, that means he was still at his best. If I remember correctly, he wasn't even a key player in that team and wasn;t even starting every game. I even remember him already being considered a veteran by a lot of people back then. He's always been a great player, but his last truly great season was 2002/03, I think he was even better in 2001/02. I'd say his prime/peak was definitely in the 90s.

I can easily say the same about Nedved, he declined after 2003. I don't remember him having many great games under Capello. Maybe that stupid yellow in the semis against Madrid affected him and he was too disappointed, but anyway. I've never been a huge fan of his, but that's my personal opinion.

Capello didn;t do well with us, but to say that e had some unbeatable, monstrous team, that should have ruled Europe, is a bit of an exaggeration. It was a good team that could have won the CL. But there were teams that were better than us imo, like Barcelona and Chelsea under Mourihno.

Then you say his 2002/03 was great, but in 06-07 and 07-08 he was even better (CL goals with poor squad, top scorer in Serie A) and easily scoring against Inter, Roma, Milan, Fiorentina, Napoli and other and you still think he was past his prime?


As for Pavel, I am not even going to defend his stats.

I haven't watched much after Calciopolli, except for the CL in 08/09. I'd say Serie A was pretty weak at that time. Del Piero was good, but not so good that he would make us destroy everyone in the CL. He wasn;t like Messi is for Barca now for example.

Zlatan has always been very overrated, he's never done anything in the CL, so I don't rate him very highly. Buffon was still at his best, Thuram was good, Cannavaro was very good. We had a great defence, I think Montero was still playing and he was very old. Emerson is a decent player. Trezeguet was very good still. But we lacked creativity in attack and were too predictable, Capello was to blame for that too. But Nedved wasn;t very good, Del Piero wasn't amazing.

And you sad we had good playerr, other teams had great players too, if not more than us. Like Chelsea, Barca, even Milan had a lot of world-class players.

To be fair Del Piero was well passed his prime. His prime came in the late 90's before his injury. Once he lost his speed he was never the same player he was. He could still change a game on his own though but he would have been a force to be reckoned with had he not had that terrible injury which slowed him down.

Del Piero was passed his prime but he was still a top striker none the less in 05/06, he had the touch of a god, the intelligence and he read the game so well. He was still a huge asset to us.
