I don't think we set out for a draw. As the game wore on it became more likely that we would score 0 instead of 2 so we understandably became more conservative.

However, we still looked to get the ball back. We defended with possession. We did not bunker, we pressed and won the ball back. Allegri's approach to defending is in contrast to Conte's.

And although this game was actually a simple encounter and really should not draw too much praise, we should acknowledge the work we did to set this up by coming back against Olympiakos. That was the real achievement. Obviously we were favourites to go through this group but after last year's debacle and our injury crisis so far this year, it is at least commendable that we made it through.

To be fair, one main difference to last year's match against Galatasaray was that Atletico didn't give two shits if they won either. They were more than happy to let us have the ball, and didn't press at all.
