The change has finally come and it worked well. We looked much more balanced and players seem to have adapted very well to it. The goals conceded were from set pieces yet again where we seem to crumble..how im not sure considering we have some very tall CBs who should be doing a better job.
But overall the change brought us the best football we have played all season, well in my opinion anyway. And if I look back at last season, playing 4 at the back against Real we again looked a lot better, even if we didn't get a win from either game. Again more brain farts from certain defenders rather than lack of organization was the reason for us not getting the positive results we needed.
With more defenders returning, will he opt again for a back 3? That is the question. I really hope not, I really liked what I saw from the team. And allegri himself pointed out several advantages related to playing this formation after the game. That extra player forward in the final third helped tevez and morata/llorente. The midfield worked hard and well and allowed pirlo to return to his best. And to me in general play our defense looked more solid in a back 4.
Let's see what happens from now on.
