Ranieri inheriting a somewhat functional system of play vs much lesser coaches with weaker players. It's not a single factor. But these coaches got the sack and deservedly so even if they had a weaker roster than Ranieri. And there was enough of those legends in the team during these horrible years as evidence by how dominant they became when Conte came on board.

No one is asking for CL winning football of Allegri with this team though Ironically thats what was expected of Sarri & Pirlo at the start (shows how much expectations have dropped in 2 years :rolleyes2:).

But the winning the Serie A title and getting past the group stage should be a very reasonable target and this start is extremely concerning. If Inter out preform us in the league after losing Conte, Lukaku, Hakim and Eriksen....we should switch to basketball
Again, with Ranieri we were 3rd and 2nd, passing CL group stage, beating Madrid, getting eliminated by what should have been a CL winning Chelsea. Those after him finished 7th respectively. We were spending big back then as well, but there was not enough leadership on the pitch, as well as not from the coaches. You think with the Serie B quintet we finish with under 60pts on 2010 or 2011, no matter the coach?

Winning Serie A should be the goal now, agree. But some of these players aren't good enough for Lazio, let alone us, and they are starters and big earners. Allegri walked into a mess, he needs to sort it out. If he manages to do it before January, I think we are gonna win it this year again. And also if we keep the key players healthy

So..what do you guys think should be the final straw when it comes to Allegri? As in, when would you be ok with him getting the can, if at all?

Hypothetically, if we’re still not in the top 6-7 come mid season, should he be let go? Or would you rather have him for the whole season? Or to put it another way, how long should a club wait for a league win before seriously considering his position? Im sure some alarm bells will go off if we lose against Milan too.

I don’t expect us to languishing out of European spots come December ( hopefully) but i’m curious what everyone’s patience level with Allegri is.

The only patience level that is relevant is Agnelli's. He basically begged Allegri to come back, gave him a long multiyear contract and they are close friends. I'm confident there is zero chance that Agnelli will even contemplate firing Allegri in his first year back. Max will be here for 2 years at minimum so these hypotheticals are pretty pointless.

I doubt he will be around 2 years if result don’t change for the better. I fully expect him to take us to a CL spot by the end of the season , but anything less would be a catastrophe and worth giving him the boot for.

Finally some proper ball management, picking up lose/second balls to control the game with possession. Fantastic stuff to see, good start!

Hopefully it gets better game by game, positive signs.

I think we might be saying the same thing. I am arguing that a good coach would not have finished this low 7th and 8th with the same squads. There were many players with personality back then too and they couldn't stop the decline because they couldn't get the best out of the players they had.

I think the same of the present. If allegri can get the best of the current squad we should win serie A. If he we don't then that would be a failure similar to Pirlo's and Sarri's failures.

I downgraded the target to just winning Serie a because Ronaldo left.
