Won’t jump on Max after 3 games. I didn’t mind the organised, low block approach without the ball yesterday when we clearly were the inferior side on paper away from home.
However, he’s surely got to learn that approach requires a capable back-line that makes minimal mistakes and a keeper who can command the box, is reliable and decisive. The former he may have, the latter he doesn’t look to have whether it’s the Pole or Perin, so he may need to come up with a plan B very soon in these games or those he’s setting up to close out.
If only Maxx had told Tek not to try and catch Insigne's shotl and Kean not to head it directly at his own goal. What was he thinking giving them these instructions?

Could be. No doubt Conte can garner a reaction better than Allegri.

We had many individual errors last year as well. Pirlo still took the blame for it. So, time for Max to step up or naturally the same should apply to him.
Pirlo took the blame for our players constantly passing to the opposition in our third because it was a consequence of his game plan - try to short pass your way out of every situation without drilling in any movements and the team being spread out all over the pitch. If it keeps happening again and again its not the fault of the individual, its the coach asking his players to take stupid risks. The team moved like Ranieri's Juve and tried to keep the ball at all costs like prime Spain

So you’re completely disregarding his European failures with Chelsea and Inter?

What European failure with Chelsea? My memory is shoddy, as far as I remember they didn't play the CL in his first season (when they won the EPL) because they had finished outside of European spots the season prior and in the second year (when they've already imploded) they got knocked out by Barca in the last 16 or QF. Nothing spectacular but not a failure either. No one in their right mind expected Chelsea to best Barca that year.

Overall I agree that his teams very often underperform in Europe. His last season with us was a regression from the prior year and imo his worst CL performance of all. At Inter the expectations were pretty low given where they were for the last 10 years but finishing last in the group stage is just way too poor even for Inter.

Grinding out a point was all he could do after losing Chiesa. I would’ve brought Kean a bit earlier as the team needed a change. Maybe starting Perin over Tek but we already knew that it wasn’t happening.

Against Empoli he had his setup wrong, yesterday there wasn’t much to do without the South Americans and Chiesa.

He’s in for a rough ride, I’m wondering what his honest opinion is about some of the players now that he’s here for some time.

Hate to sound pessimistic but other than Cuadrado, who else of out South American players could have made a significant difference yesterday? Perhaps Dybala if on form. Danilo maybe.
And we missed Chiesa, our most important player. Basically 4 starters (Cuadrado, Dybala, Sandro, Chiesa) and Danilo is twice the player De Sciglio is so potentially 5.

Let’s not count Bentancur. Missing him was a advantage

In terms of better squads than us I’d still say only really Inter have better players. Roma seem to be boosted under mourinho but he tends to self destruct at some point as do Roma historically. Atalanta look like they are struggling also.
Milan are building well but in my eyes will struggle with CL football as well, Lazio initially look good under Sarri.

Competition definitely tougher, it’s so disappointing the way we have started but all of these teams will have a bad patch. We just have to hope and trust that this is our bad patch and we will improve
These weren't just bad games we've played so far. We're 3 games in and we don't have a clue what we're doing. We actually might end this season in the second half of the table. As of now, we're one of the worst teams in the league. And it isn't looking like the problem is about to be fixed anytime soon.

We will be fine, need so secure top 4.
I don't see how we'll be fine. Securing CL will be quite an achievement.

We were extremely lucky last year. This year will be more difficult
