Oh please. Context is needed. This is bloody sporting Lisbon who barely disturbed us in the 2nd half. We're not talking about Barcelona here.

Again, provincial thinking. Depending on how our performance goes against Barca, we've yet again left it to match day 5 and 6 to decide our group stage qualification outcome. And this time we won't get any easy draw in the R16 (provided we make it) as we would finish 2nd.
You can't talk about context and then suggest our approach in the group stage is why we don't win the CL in two-legged or one-off knock out games (i.e. the final). This team underestimates weaker teams, has for a long time.

How many games and group stage campaigns do you have to watch to see the way we go about our business? We try to do just enough at this stage and then invariably find a gear when we need to. A couple of times we completely fucked it up (GS in the snow the obvious one) but it largely ends up working. It's infuriating to watch but tbh over the course of an Allegri season we have a patch of games like this in the league too, the ones where we all take the piss about things like "conserving energy" and the like. It irritates me particularly this season because the league looks like it'll be very closely contesting.

I think he needs to stop with this 4-2-3-1, it just doesn't provide the coverage for our defence. Even not with Cuadrado playing so close to his RB and Mandzukic as a LW. Too fragile. We need to go 4-3-3 or 5-2-3 but at this point it's not right to play Dybala-Higuain central considering they have to little impact all-game.

Buffon
MDS - Rugani - Chiellini - Alex Sandro
Khedira - Pjanic - Matuidi
Dybala (Bernardeschi) - Higuain - Mandzukic (Douglas Costa)

Buffon
MDS - Barzagli - Rugani - Chiellini - Alex Sandro
Pjanic - Matuidi
Dybala (Bernardeschi) - Higuain - Mandzukic (Douglas Costa)
Dude it's either higuain or mandzukic, not both, playing both is self crippling ourself.

Are you talking about your job, or this glorious club making the CL final twice in 3 years ?
Again, where we were completely humiliated and owned. It takes a full blown retard or an individual drowning in a sea of delusion to not realize that. I celebrate wins, not runners up medals. Time to get back to your 2 liter bottle of diet coke; it craves your presence, as most inanimate objects do.

Even since he mentioned the word 'DRAW' and in same sentence as good result and all we need. I knew we would play and look like this..
Spot on. When I saw this yesterday I knew we'd be in for a poor match. The phrase "a draw is enough" should be an automatic termination for coaches and players going forward, get it in to their contracts! :D

Even the club's president stated last year that he hopes this team wrap up qualification by 4th or 5th match day as he can't handle the tension himself.

Why do we always have to labour to victories/results against smaller sides ? How is saying 'we underestimate small teams' even a valid justification ? Tell that to the big clubs in Europe.

After making such a huge progress in Europe, is going through a normal qualification process too much to ask ? Especially after having spent €90M on supposedly upgrading the attack.

Yes I would connect the group stage struggles to our ability to win finals because our attitude, our mentality is inherently defensive. There are pros and cons to this defensive mentality. We have a conservative attitude. We don't go for the kill when we need to and try it play it too safe when we dont need to which ultimately causes our downfall.
