Injuries havent helped us. Sturaro at rb in the cl stems form no de sciglio or howedes who in my opinion will give us solidarity when fit.

Higuain played his best at napoli in a team that attacked better than we do and supplied him with what he needed to score for fun. I think we have a good blend of offensive players to field around higuain but allegri just hasnt worked it out yet. I truly believe bernardeschi is the man who can help bring more creativity than everyone else bar dybala of course.

The dilemma is one of mandzukic or higuain needs to miss out to make up for the lack creativity in the team with an added midfielder to balance it all out. If we want 3 in midfield and more creative players in that final third then what does that look like? Dybala needs to start bernadeschi is our next most creative player..more so than costa in my opinion. Can a final third of dybala higuain and bernadeschi somehow deliver what we need with a pjanic marchisio matuidi midfield?

As for CB i have no fukin clue how rugani isnt playing regularly.

I do agree with most of your points but tbh with no Mandzukic or Khedira i dont see how that combination would work, we play with a lot of long passes and crosses, in the formation you mentioned there is 0 strength at aerial battles, actually there is no strength or aerial threat at all in the final third, maybe only if we end up seeing for example a box-to-box Chiellini coming both in midfield and atack to win every aerial battle or fight for every header but that's surely impossible.

That formation does bring more creativity but i highly doubt it can fit our style of play unless we totally change our game plan and again, we all know thats not going to happen anytime soon....

Allegri need to find his formula in defence faster. So far this season he already experiments with 6 CB pairing. That's why the backline seems not cohesive when we concede against Lazio and Atalanta. All big teams mostly already settled especially with their CB because CB pair need to understand and cover each other. Championship is won by the best Defence

1. Barzagli - Chiellini 2 times (vs Olympiacos, vs Lazio)
2. Barzagli - Rugani 1 times (vs Fiorentina)
3. Rugani - Chiellini 3 times (vs Cagliari, vs Genoa, vs Sassuolo)
4. Benatia - Rugani 1 times (vs Chievo)
5. Benatia - Chiellini 3 times (Supercoppa, vs Torino, vs Atalanta)
6. Barzagli - Benatia 1 times (vs Barca)
Seeing it like that actually explains a lot....

This worries me for when Howedes returns as I can see even further tinkering in defence. Rugani Chiellini is our best available pairing and we need to start to cement that. I really do hate seeing Benatia play

Allegri: 'Set aside Juve aesthetics'
By Football Italia staff

Max Allegri loses Blaise Matuidi and launches Daniele Rugani against Udinese, but warns Juventus must “set aside aesthetics and get points.”

It kicks off on Sunday at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT), click here for a match preview.

The Bianconeri fought back from an Alex Sandro own goal to beat Sporting 2-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday, but lost their unbeaten home record in Serie A to Lazio after 50 wins and seven draws.

“Paulo Dybala returned from Argentina and was not in good shape, so he was rested on Saturday,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“He is in good shape, he’s able to deal with any issue on or off the field and he will play tomorrow. I said the team was disconnected because it’s like when you have a computer and it’s not connected to the Internet, it won’t go very well. That happens on the field too.

“Rugani will play tomorrow. I hadn’t seen many guarantees from him in training and preferred to use other players in certain games. Claudio Marchisio is called up, but not Blaise Matuidi because he has a muscular issue in the flexor.

“Mattia De Sciglio will return to training with the squad on Monday, Marko Pjaca will play with the Primavera squad to get minutes in his legs and Benedikt Howedes will slowly get into the group from Monday. Giorgio Chiellini will 99 per cent play tomorrow.

“After the break for international duty, we should all be there and ready to play. Injuries happen during a season.”

Juventus have slipped down to third place and are seven points off leaders Napoli, but tonight the Partenopei go head-to-head with second-placed Inter.

“We need to recover lost points and stop those in front of us breaking away. We have to work as a team and leave aside the issue of aesthetics or beautiful football, because we need to put some points under our belts.”

Allegri consolidated his reputation as a supersub Coach by introducing Douglas Costa against Sporting, who within 13 seconds provided the assist for Mario Mandzukic’s goal.

“It takes luck too, but I already wanted to make the change against Lazio. I’m glad I waited, because the Sporting match was more important for us to win.

“Douglas Costa is in good shape and when you play so many games, it’s important to have the right changes off the bench. I still have to decide if he will start.”

Yep. Only way to develop him is to get him to play more consistently.

He still wouldn’t be playing today if we didn’t have so many injuries.

If he has no confidence then we should sell. Why let his value drop?

Maybe that is just Allegri's way of telling the kid he has to step up in training and be more convincing so he can start ahead of Barzagli\Benatia... or considering is Allegri we talking about than there's also the chance he just doesnt trust him and thinks of him as no more than a back-up.

Anyway, kind of a weird thing to say regardless of his intentions...

Yeah, and what guarantees have you seen from Khedira, Sturaro and Benatia so far? Truly baffling statement from Max.In some regard his attitude towards Rugani reminds me of his treatment of Morata. This guy adores some mediocre players but the really talented ones have to climb mountains blindfolded in order to impress him.
