Allegri not happy with the team is good but him absorbing most of the blame would have been more professional not to mention closer to the truth..hell he's done everything for us to scratch our head at times..everything except Buffon at left back

The players don't need to realize shi@ they did what was asked of them even subpar Pjanic raised his level and got Allegri a win instead of draw but the guy can't help it if max doesn't know how to play him, even when we hadn't lost our other players earlier in season. Allegri has to realize such a talented squad has been hiding his blunt and vague tactics. Anything less than last 4 team in CL will mean little.

Allegri: 'Juve can use trident'
By Football Italia staff

Max Allegri was pleased with the Juventus reaction against Atalanta and said he could use Mario Mandzukic, Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala together.

The Bianconeri put last week’s embarrassing loss in Genoa behind them by sweeping La Dea aside 3-1 this evening.

“It was a good performance, above all in terms of intensity, although towards the end of the first half we allowed three dangerous through balls and could’ve done better there,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“You use up energy if you have to chase back on counter-attacks rather than just cutting off the supply in midfield.”

Miralem Pjanic was used as a trequartista in a new 4-3-1-2 system and arguably had his best performance in a Juventus jersey.

“It wasn’t an experiment. I think Pjanic has more freedom to play in that position and can go deeper to help the midfield when needed.

“Once Dybala and Marko Pjaca return, we’ll have more options to choose from. I am glad we got back on track after 30 terrible minutes against Genoa.”

Mandzukic was extraordinary tonight, working to win back possession all over the pitch and also nodding in a corner.

“Working for an entire week in training was frankly a new experience… We got the chance to work on fitness levels as well as tactics.

“The two strikers did very well and sought each other out, while Higuain could’ve scored tonight too,” continued Allegri.

“Mandzukic is a player who amid all the quantity also provides quality. If he stands there and acts as a classic centre-forward, he’s not as effective. He had a great game tonight and sacrificed himself for his teammates. Fortunately it was just a knock to the knee, as I was afraid he’d sprained it.

“If Mandzukic and Higuain press like this, I think there are games where we could play with those two and Dybala together, albeit with a more robust midfield.

“On Wednesday we must try to beat Dinamo Zagreb to secure first place in the Champions League group, because that’s the kind of game that can really be a minefield. After that we’ll think about the Turin Derby.”
Could be interesting if he really starts Mandzu, Higgy and Dybi together but surely we need more backups in January then.

The question would be.... Higuain on the mid or Mandzukic on the mid?. I would Put Higuain no question, because he not only scores more, but he is very intelligent with the ball and usually knows where to go or where to pass when in possesion.

Mandz would go to the left i guess?, but then i dont know how he would fare there as he is a CF and he likes to defend a lot, but i dont see him cutting in and assitting from the left

Using Dybala behind those 2 sounds better than going 433.

If Allegri wants to use 433...then a trident of Sandro-Pipa-Dybs is way more plausible.... or a Cuadrado-Pipa-Dyabala could work too.

or a Pjaca-Pipa-Dybs when he returns from injury.

In the form he is right now you simply don't bench Mandzu. 4312 with Dybala TQ sounds like a good solution...but Max also says:

"...I think there are games where we could play with those two and Dybala together, albeit with a more robust midfield."

Pjanic on the bench?

Most likely. If we will use a trident of XXX-Higuain-Dybala...we need a strong ball winning midfield.

Having a Pogba-Marchisio-Vidal behind a powerful trident would have been CL winner material.

the sad..

---------Benatia----Chiellini
Licht------------Marchisio----A.Sandro
---------Khedira
-------------------------Pjanic
---------------Dybala
-------Mandzu--------Higgy

Looks solid enough for me :boh:
Dybala and Mandzu both run their socks off, no need to leave out Pjanic. Khedira and Claudio got this.

Like i said, i would be totally ok with that if it wasnt for Pjanic and Khedira as ball winners. Both of them are hot and cold and not physical enough for my liking. But we can practice that against the crotones of the world and see how it goes , for sure.

Against a solid CL contender team, i would be nervous with those 2 there.

Would take some time and adjustment but imo it would be fine, at least against all Serie-A teams and all CL opponents bar the top 4. I do understand we are an italian team and fielding 3 attacking players AND Pjanic is against the rules, but i'd still give it a try.

What formation do you suggest if Dybala comes back and Mandzu keeps on playing like a god?

Yeah pjanic in that position at 442 would have to be a ball winner, and slowdira would have to stay back and not cross the middle of field.
Playing mandz and Higui dictates more than ever the necessity of having two stoppers, otherwise with that 41212 our flanks are open..sandro? Pjanic? Same flank? Please. We NEED 2 dedicated stoppers no matter what.. If playing Mandz and Higui and Dybi is a must, closest to a balanced team is 4222 with Dybi at a free role where he can roam and connect with the forwards and also make play alongside pjanic..roam the channels and destroy defences. A handful of players are capable of doing that properly and Dybala has that intelligence, no doubt.
