I really find him an average player with some moments of brilliance from time to time, ala the goals vs Milan and Inter.

LB experiment was a pretty spectacular failure.
It's clear he was chosen there to nullify Cuadrado, Conte didn't know the dude was going to be sent off. In theory he could have subbed him off for Giaccherini at about 65', but that would have probably hurt Caceres. His left foot crossing was painful to watch.

totally get the strategy behind it, but one cannot deny that it did not work out.

In summary, this.

If he improves that aspect... he will be ok.

We also need to take in account that he is here not for his awesome skills, but his versatility.

And well, yeah if he cannot perform in the LB, we will have to find a back up or a rival for ashton. Let caceres cover the other 2 spots on the defense when needed.

I still don't understand why Giaccherrini was not subbed in instead of Lichtsteiner after the red card. Moving Caceres to the right and letting Giac play like he played against Novara would not have seen us in the situation we are in now.

That would have been a good choice indeed. But well like some peeps said... hindsight is a bish.

There was no way to know that gigi would fuk up royally, and also it was impossible to predict a performance so poor from caceres and all our forwards. Not to mention Vidal´s misses and that silly offside which never existed on quags.

1-0 lead is never safe. You can easily concede from a free kick or a korner kick, or a Bonucci blunder!

My brother's tweet after the match sums exactly my feelings towards the entire season

"I wouldnt worry about buffon's mistake(shit happens)what worries me is not scoring a 2nd goal against 10man lecce at home!"

The thing is after the red card we stopped playing and the right substitutions would have made things different. Matri was subbed 10 minutes too late for example. Lichtsteiner who stopped running should have been taken out for Giaccherrini and Caceres who sucked on the left should have been moved to the right.

D3finitely.... dont know why he last that much to use his subs... specially when the guys doing it wrong are the forwards.

I personally would give 60 or 50 mins to a forward...and if he is suking i would get him out asap after those mins have passed.
