Would not surprise me if Conte is working towards the 3-5-2 being the main formation for next season.
I have a strange feeling about that too.

I still think Conte is only using 3-5-2 as an alternative to 4-3-3, rather than anything he would view as a first choice system.

He's only used 3-5-2 when a key player has been missing - generally Vucinic or Marchisio - or when he's using a lot of backup players in the Coppa.

There's no suggestion that when all options are available to Conte he won't play 4-3-3
Take into consideration that we're on the edge of selling Krasic while Pepe fits also there. And not just that, but I'm pretty sure Licht would cover that position of WB quite well and now we also have Padoin who's supposed to be played right as a WB. Our recent moves imply that we could convert in 3-5-2 next season IMO. 4-3-3 might be our second option, where we'd have Vucinic, Pepe, Elia(?) and Quag ready to fill in those flanks.

I hope the 3-5-2 isn't going to be our formation. 3 man defenses are out dated and will be raped by the better european teams.
I'm not a fan as well. I'd stick to 4-3-3 because I think it's the best one for our current players and it fits this Juve and Conte well. Our middle is already set for the next season, so that's great to know. We just have to find a left winger and potentially one WC striker. (I know LB spot is weak but I don't see us getting any player for that place, especially now when we have Padoin, and even Caceres who might cover it)

Napoli didn't really play any of the good European teams. A very off form, almost intimidated Man City and a mediocre Bayern Munich. I suspect it will be harder for them as the tournament progresses.
Chelsea haven't provided evidence of being better than either of those but Napoli will find those games a lot more difficult IMO. Bayern seemed to be taking it easy in the group games.

I think Napoli were the ones to score first at the "very mediocre" Bayern in 12 games or so.
You mean the auto goal?

If you payed attention to the first Napoli v Bayern game, it's obvious why a 3 man defense doesn't work. As soon as Ribery got in behind the wing backs, the defense was so stretched that they could just walk into the box.
