Giuseppe Marotta praised the Bianconeri’s resolve in grinding out an “important” success from a potentially tricky clash against Catania.
Marotta began: “It was an important victory, obtained at a difficult venue. Including last season, this team has scored 79 goals, conceding less than any other, and this indicates the value of the group.”
Commenting on Catania’s first-half goal which was ruled out for offside, the club director said: “It’s evident there was a discussion between the linesman, goal-line official and referee. It’s illogical to think that our players had any say in the affair and such a statement does not deserve any response whatsoever.
“The linesman initially raised his flag, then put it down, so he clearly already had some doubts. The goal was legitimate, but this situation wouldn’t have mathematically determined a result against us. It came in the 26[SUP]th[/SUP] minute and we’re used to coming from behind, given that we usually play better in the second half.”
