Giuseppe Marotta was quick to provide his opinion on the controversy which denied Juventus a penalty in the dying stages of tonight’s 1-1 home draw with Genoa.
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, the Bianconeri CEO said: “Granqvist got his timing wrong and the ball struck him on the arm, so he gained an advantage from his error. But he wasn’t punished. The goal-line official was in a perfect position but he wasn’t consulted and Guida said “I didn’t feel I could give it”.
“Evidently, I don’t think that the selection of Guida was the right decision. We’re talking about a young referee who is from Torre Annunziata, the region of Naples. Making him officiate Juve isn’t putting him in the best possible conditions. Furthermore, I ask myself what is the point of having six officials if the referee and goal-line official are not on the same wavelength?”
