I saw a lot of him a few years back in his early Middlesbrough days. He had tremendous agility then and I've no reason to believe he would be any worse than Abbiati was when deputizing for Gigi in 05 -06

Juve Arrange Bosman Meeting With Schwarzer

According to La Stampa, Juventus have arranged a meeting next Monday with Middlesbrough goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer’s representatives in a bid to thrash out a free transfer move for the player.

The Old Lady are attempting to strengthen their squad ahead of next season’s two-fronted attack on Serie A and Europe.

The objective is to find two suitable players in each position on the field, and one area that needs to be fortified is that of the goalkeeper.

While Juve currently possess the undisputed number one in the world in the form of Gianluigi Buffon, his understudy Emanuele Belardi has failed to impress when given the opportunity.

Last week it was reported that Juventus were looking likely to beat off competition from the likes of Fiorentina and Bayern Munich to sign Mark Schwarzer, who is available on a free transfer as his contract at Middlesbrough runs out in the summer.

La Stampa today claims that Juve have arranged a meeting with the 35-year-old Aussie’s representative for Monday of next week, where they will attempt to thrash out a deal.

The Bianconeri have already snapped up Olof Mellberg on a Bosman, and there are reports that Firoentina defender Tomas Ujfalusi could follow him to Turin in an identical move.

Let's keep our fingers crossed, because all these free transfers allow us to cheaply strengthen areas of concern. And with all the money that we save by not paying stupid prices to get players that are helpful, we will still have money left over to spend on a real quality player(s).

There's the Coppa Italia and some league games to rest Gigi. :)
+ Does he need to worry about Kalac who will certainly be replaced by another keeper at Milan(Frey, Abbiati...)

Schwarzer is miles ahead of any aussie keeper tbh. Most of his competition sit on the bench of their teams and some of the goalkeepers in the A-league are not up to standard.

Kalac retired after the world cup if am not mistaken

no offence but i really dont care about the australian national team. Schwarzer is a decent goalkeeper and would be good backup for Gigi. Azzurri all the way for me, after the world cup saga between Australia and Italy, i refuse to cheer on the socceroos. Sure i like to see them win and qualify for the world cup, but its just not the same as my passion for Italia..
a good move by Juve IMO.
